Trump’s Surge

The election that virtually every analyst and talking head has been telling us was over now appears to be a dead heat. Just last week, a Reuters poll had Donald Trump losing to Hillary Clinton by double digits — 45% to 33%. Before I continue, let me remind you of a little history.

A few months ago, Reuters’ polls regularly showed Trump leading Clinton by a few points. Suddenly, Reuters announced that its polling methodology was flawed. Translation: Reuters wasn’t getting the results it wanted. So in a blatant attempt to get a different outcome, Reuters changed how it was conducting the poll.

Pat Caddell, a Democrat pollster, blasted Reuters’ move as “the most outrageous thing” he had seen in his profession. Caddell added, “This comes as close as I have ever seen to cooking the results. . . if this was accounting, they would put them in jail.”

And it worked. The next poll Reuters took had Trump trailing Clinton by three points.

Then the Trump campaign entered its worst couple of weeks of missteps, which, not surprisingly was reflected in last week’s poll that found Trump trailing by 12 points. Such findings led numerous commentators to declare that Hillary was heading toward a historic landslide victory.

The problem with all these prognosticators making such bold predictions based on polling is obvious: No one has voted yet!

But since the media and political establishment put such an emphasis on polling, today’s news must have our elites reaching for the Maalox. The latest Reuters poll finds that the race is essentially tied — 40% Clinton, 39% Trump. Clinton’s double-digit lead is gone!

Moreover, Democrat support for Clinton is down three points, while Republican support for Trump is up seven points. If Republicans would just stick together we could win!

Other polls confirm Trump’s movement. The Los Angeles Times daily tracking poll now finds Trump leading Clinton 45% to 42%. Trump is also closing the gap in key swing states. And the results of the latest Washington Post poll produced this headline: “A Record Number Of Americans Now Dislike Hillary Clinton.” (See next item.)

“It’s Raining Shoes”

I’m not going to refer to Hillary Clinton’s problems anymore as an “email scandal” because it sounds unserious. But it is extremely serious. The emails provide evidence of corruption between the Clinton Foundation and the State Department. They are also evidence of Hillary’s cavalier attitude regarding our national security.

Every day brings a new disclosure. For example, in the past 24 hours, we have learned that:

  • The FBI discovered 30 new Benghazi emails Clinton deleted instead of handing over to the State Department and the congressional committees that had asked for them. Did she consider those personal or potentially damaging?
  • Huma Abedin was well aware of the risks of using unsecured Blackberries in foreign countries. On October 12, 2009, as Clinton was traveling to Russia, Abedin emailed other State Department officials to inform them that “those of us in the Russia traveling party will be leaving blackberries on the airplane” once they land in Moscow.

(By the way, she sent the same message to leaders of the Clinton Foundation, once again highlighting the unseemly connection between the Clinton Foundation and the Clinton State Department.)

But this much is clear: Huma and others close to Hillary were aware of the risks and knew Clinton was violating government policy. Let me remind you of what FBI Director James Comey said last month:

“She [Clinton] also used her personal e-mail extensively while outside the United States, including sending and receiving work-related e-mails in the territory of sophisticated adversaries. Given that combination of factors, we assess it is possible that hostile actors gained access to Secretary Clinton’s personal e-mail account.”

  • The scandal isn’t going away. Clinton is now being compelled to answer 25 questions under oath. Who knows what else we may learn.

And that’s exactly what Democrats fear most. Columnist A. B. Stoddard commented yesterday on just how much of Clinton’s story, even before the Benghazi committee, has been untrue:

“What she probably thought was legalese that would protect her, were actually a bunch of lies. They’ve all been proven wrong. Now, it’s not just another shoe to drop, it’s raining shoes, and Democrats are terrified about what’s going to be coming out this week, and the end of September, in the days and weeks before the election.”
Liberal MSNBC host Mika Brzezinski agreed, saying, “But you know what . . . today’s headline is ’30 Emails. Benghazi. Hidden.’ That doesn’t help. Sorry. Thirty missing emails about Benghazi? That just doesn’t help. . . People are not that dumb.”

    Clinton’s Tough Choice

The Colin Kaepernick controversy has dominated the headlines for days, but Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama haven’t said a word. How could they? They would have to choose between the National Anthem and the Black Lives Matter movement.

For most of us, that’s not a hard call. But for Hillary, it’s really tough.

Donald Trump left no doubt about which side he was on. Trump said about Kaepernick, “I think it’s a terrible thing, and you know, maybe he should find a country that works better for him. Let him try. It won’t happen.”

That shows you how in tune Trump is with average Americans. I can imagine my father, Spike Bauer, or my father-in-law, Bill Hoke, saying exactly that. That is how real patriots think.

    Follow The Missiles

In politics there is a saying everyone understands, “Follow the money.” A comparable saying when dealing with Iran might be, “Follow the missiles.”

When the Iranian nuclear negotiations began, one of the primary objectives of the West was to guarantee that the Iranian facility at Fordow was shuttered. Everyone agreed that the facility, which housed a major part of Iran’s nuclear weapons program and was built inside a mountain, had to be closed.

But as the negotiations progressed, the fate of Fordow ultimately became one of Obama’s biggest concessions to Tehran. And to further sweeten the deal for Iran, Obama agreed to end many sanctions against the Iranian regime, the world’s leading state-sponsor of terrorism.

As soon as the sanctions were lifted, Russia announced that it would sell highly sophisticated anti-aircraft missiles to Iran. This week, Iran announced that it deployed the Russian S-300 missiles to Fordow — the very facility where it claims nothing unusual, just research, is taking place.

Could Iran’s intentions be more obvious?

Let me say this as bluntly as I can: When we eventually discover that Iran is cheating, as it always does, efforts to take out the facility will be vastly more difficult. American and Israeli lives will likely be lost as a result of the policies pursued by Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.

Not Standing For Kaeperick

The latest hero of the left is San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick. He is making headlines, but not for his talent. In fact, his career is fading.

Kaepernick has a long record of tweeting anti-American sentiments like this one: “Folks always want to make it seem like White Supremacy is whiteness gone wild. No. It’s a standard [American] practice.” Evidently that wasn’t getting him enough attention so he’s now refusing to stand for the National Anthem.

“I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color,” he said, adding, “There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder.”

Irony hangs heavy in the air. In 2014, Kaepernick signed a multi-year contract for $126 million. All he has to do is look down the bench at his next game and he will see multiple black Americans who are millionaires.

The stands of our football stadiums are filled with fans of all races and ethnic backgrounds who cheer or boo players, not based on the color of their skin, but based on their performance.

Kaepernick says he will continue sitting during the National Anthem until the oppression stops, until blacks are no longer shot by people. But 98% of the time black people are shooting other black people.

This is a sad reminder that to the extent people of color are being hurt or oppressed in America it is often at the hands of other people of color. Kaepernick is proof of that.

His black father abandoned him and his mother. He was eventually adopted in “racist America,” which has reelected its first black president, by a white couple. Kaepernick was obviously able to overcome that difficult beginning.

The Wrong Reaction

Predictably, the left-wing media rushed to Kaepernick’s defense, reminding us that he enjoys the freedom of speech and the right to dissent. Really?

If you attend an anti-war demonstration after work, government at no level could penalize you for that. Your employer would be hard-pressed to win a court case if he tried to do so. But if you are promoting your political views to a customer in the office place, your employer would be well within his rights to say, “Not while you’re on the job.”

I believe the NFL would be well within its legal rights to say:

“Our athletes are free to take any position they want on political issues on their own time. But when they are on the field wearing a team jersey, they will observe the basic appreciation and respect for our country. That is in line with the values of the NFL. If any player wants to sit during the National Anthem, he should get used to sitting during the entire game.”
I believe that announcement by an NFL team would pass constitutional review, particularly if Hillary Clinton hasn’t had a chance to pack the Supreme Court with two or three justices.

Unfortunately, the NFL has been politicized by the left. Like all institutions, it is now taking the default position, which is to satisfy the left.

So football players who run out onto the field with their hands up promoting a false narrative are simply expressing their First Amendment rights. When a player refuses to stand for the National Anthem, the NFL says he has every right to do that. But when the Dallas Cowboys ask to honor policemen killed in the line of duty, the NFL says “No,” and columnists applaud for keeping politics off the field.

Some protested Kaepernick by burning his jersey. But I think the best response to his ungratefulness to the country he has done so well in can be found in this photo of Sgt. Zachary Stinson, a Marine who lost both his legs in Afghanistan, standing for the National Anthem as only he can.

Speaking Of Remaining Seated. . .

I was reminded over the weekend that Pope Francis is scheduled to canonize Mother Teresa on Sunday, September 4th. Mother Teresa was an incredible humanitarian who devoted her life to the poor of Calcutta, India. Yet because everything she did was pro-life, she was despised by many on the American left.

I couldn’t help but recall a national prayer breakfast which I attended in 1994. Mother Teresa was the main speaker. As was typical, the president was also in attendance. That year the president and his spouse were Bill and Hillary Clinton. Vice President Al Gore and his wife, Tipper, were also there.

Little Mother Teresa, who probably didn’t weigh 100 pounds, came up to the podium and said the following:

“I feel that the greatest destroyer of peace today is abortion, because it is a war against the child, a direct killing of the innocent child. . . Any country that accepts abortion is not teaching its people to love, but to use any violence to get what they want. This is why the greatest destroyer of love and peace is abortion. . .

“Please don’t kill the child. I want the child. Please give me the child. I am willing to accept any child who would be aborted and to give that child to a married couple who will love the child and be loved by the child.”
The audience jumped to its feet in a standing ovation that went on for several minutes. But some did not applaud. The Clintons and the Gores remained seated and stone faced.

It was an amazing moment, and the kind of thing that should have ended the political careers of both families. Their utter lack of respect for Mother Teresa and the idea of saving innocent human life was disgusting. But they knew what the reaction of the pro-abortion left would have been if they had dared to stand and applaud.

Now Hillary Clinton may become president of the United States. This is a strong reminder of how imperative it is for every pro-life voter to support the only candidate who has a chance of stopping her — Donald Trump.

Not Over Yet

Do not buy into the defeatism that the left is preaching. The election is far from over. Just consider these recent polls:

  • A daily tracking poll conducted by UPI has Clinton up just three points — 50% to 47%.
  • A poll by the Economist also finds Clinton up three points — 47% to 44%.
  • A Gravis Marketing poll found Hillary Clinton leading Donald Trump 42% to 41%.
  • The Los Angeles Times daily tracking poll has the candidates tied at 44%.

No state that Mitt Romney won appears to be in serious jeopardy. Other states, like Florida and Ohio, are close. It will all come down to turn out, which is why it is so important for everyone to make sure their like-minded friends and family members are registered to vote.

And please continue to engage friends and co-workers. Find one person who voted for Obama and bring them our way. (Don’t waste your time on diehard liberals.) Share these reports with them. The stakes this November are too great for any conservative Christian voter to ignore.

Hillary’s McCarthyism

Since the 1950s, smearing someone through tenuous connections — guilt by association — has been labeled “McCarthyism.” The term was coined by the left, and named after a member of Congress, Senator Joseph McCarthy, who the left contended was too aggressive in rooting out communists in the government.

Hillary Clinton’s speech in Reno, Nevada, yesterday was McCarthyism on steroids. Donald Trump, who had a pretty good idea of what she was going to do, said earlier in the day, “Shame on you.” And shame is exactly the right word for Clinton’s disgusting speech.

Hillary Clinton began by attacking Trump for his remarks about America’s inner cities. Trump has noted that in urban centers like Chicago, Baltimore, Detroit and Philadelphia, black children are trapped in failing schools. Their streets are like war zones. (By the way, at least 35 people were shot in Chicago last weekend.) Youth unemployment is through the roof, and many communities are filled with despair.

Clinton accused Trump of “reinforcing harmful stereotypes and offering a dog whistle to his most hateful supporters.” But what Trump has been saying is exactly what the left has been saying for the past 30 years.

When rioting breaks out, Clinton and other progressives say, “Well, what do you expect? These cities are run down and people have no hope. They need more investments!” Trump is merely pointing out that the left has been running these cities into the ground.

Trump once went on a radio show with a host who has some wacky opinions. According to Clinton, this means Trump supports the host’s views.

The Trump campaign hires Steve Bannon from Breitbart and Hillary Clinton picks a couple of sarcastic headlines from the website and says Trump must agree with the content of the articles.

Some disgusting white supremacists say they support Trump and Clinton says that proves Trump is a white supremacist.

Someone on the Trump campaign uses what is clearly a sheriff’s star in a post about Clinton corruption and, because it is the same shape as a Star of David, Clinton says Trump is an anti-Semite. Never mind that Trump has a history of fighting anti-Semitism and bigotry.

After Nigel Farage addressed a Trump rally in Mississippi, Clinton did a twofer. She first marginalized Farage by saying he hates immigrants. In reality, the party he heads simply believes that the people of Great Britain, not European bureaucrats, should decide how many immigrants the country takes in. But then Clinton smeared Trump for having Farage on the stage with him.

Before her tirade was over, Clinton blamed Trump for bullying in our schools.

Two Can Play

Let’s subject Hillary Clinton to the same scrutiny. She totally embraces the Black Lives Matter movement, a group which has shouted down anyone who dares to say, “All Lives Matter.” Its anti-police rhetoric has contributed to the assassinations of police officers all over the country. So using Hillary’s reasoning, she must be in favor of police shootings. Of course, that is absurd.

The Black Lives Matter movement recently issued a scathing attack on Israel. So Hillary must be an anti-Semite. (By the way, she has top advisors who have regularly shared with her anti-Israel diatribes. Not once did she reject that material. In fact she has praised it.)

Hillary Clinton served in an administration that refused to take action against the New Black Panther Party for intimidating white voters in Pennsylvania. Oh, by the way, the American Communist Party is all in for Clinton, so she must be a communist.

If Donald Trump delivered a speech about Hillary Clinton that recounted the things I just wrote, the media would tear him apart. But yesterday, the media regurgitated Hillary’s speech as if it was entirely rational instead of complete demagoguery. That includes Fox News host Shepard Smith, who sounded like he belonged on MSNBC.

Clinton continued the theme that Trump is unlike any decent Republican — George W. Bush, Mitt Romney and John McCain. Really? The left also tried to label Bush, McCain and Romney as bigots!

Having worked for Ronald Reagan, I can tell you the left has been doing this for decades. But I will concede that Hillary sank to new lows of disgust in the rawness of her appeal.

Why This Speech Now?

Hillary Clinton was supposed to give a speech on economic opportunity yesterday, but instead delivered a vile speech that condemned Trump and his supporters as bigots. Why did she go nuclear now? Virtually every commentator insists the election is over and that Trump has no chance.

I believe the reason she delivered the speech is that she was trying to delete the worst week she has had in the campaign. There were more revelations about her emails, more red flags with her foundation, more talk about her health, more polls showing Trump rising. Clinton’s only road to success is to tear Trump down.

Here’s something else to consider: While the liberal media and progressive left are mocking Trump’s outreach to minority voters, privately there is a lot of nervousness. No Republican presidential nominee has made such a direct appeal to black voters as Trump has been making in the last ten days. And some polling suggests he might be getting traction.

For example, the poll I mentioned yesterday that had Trump leading in Florida found him winning 20% of the black vote. If that figure holds on Election Day, Hillary has no chance!

Another reason for Hillary’s attack may be the evidence that suburban Republican women are “coming home” to the GOP. The percentage of Republicans supporting Trump, which has been lagging, appears to be strengthening.

The speech could have been a preemptive strike against further GOP unification. The left knows that no one wants to be called a bigot. So Hillary is trying to make Trump radioactive.

By the way, the major #NeverTrump group backing the independent candidacy of Evan McMullin folded this week. Did you hear about that on the evening news?

One Final Thought

Conservatives and Republicans in and out of office, including people like Rush Limbaugh, are regularly accused of using rhetoric that leads to violence. Bill Clinton famously blamed the bombing of a federal government building in Oklahoma City on “hate radio” and conservative rhetoric against government.

When a Muslim gets bacon thrown at him, it is because Republicans are calling terrorists “radical Islamists.”

With that thought in mind, consider this: Hillary Clinton said yesterday that Donald Trump is the candidate of white supremacists, the KKK, Nazis and bigots everywhere. If that were true — and it is obviously not — there would be plenty of people who might think that Trump’s assassination would be justified. There has already been at least one attempt on his life.

Some progressives are justifying the kind of violence that we saw last week against Trump supporters in Minneapolis.

The left is playing with fire.

Not Over Yet

Don’t let big media tell you this race is over. The left is doing its best to demoralize conservatives, but this election is not over yet. Not by a long shot.

Polling this year has been wildly unpredictable. For example, in recent days three major national polls were released. One had Clinton up eight points, one had her up three points and one had Trump and Clinton tied. Only one of those polls surveyed likely voters and that was poll that found Trump and Clinton tied at 44%.

Of course, the election isn’t necessarily a national contest, but a series of state-by-state races that determine the outcome in the Electoral College. So let’s see how Trump is doing in some key swing states.

  • A new poll finds Trump leading by two points in Florida — 43% to 41%.
  • In North Carolina, Clinton is up just one point — 48% to 47%. Given the poll’s margin of error, Trump could be leading too.
  • In Nevada, one recent poll found Clinton leading Trump by only two points — 44% to 42%. Barack Obama carried the state four years ago by six points.
  • In Iowa, another state Obama carried by six points, Trump and Clinton were tied at 40%.
  • There was breaking news earlier this month suggesting that Utah could be in play. Well, not so much. The latest poll has Trump up 20 points — 53% to 33%.

That said, there are areas of concern. Missouri appears close. Clinton is leading in Ohio by four points, and polling indicates that Georgia is a dead heat. Losing any of those states would be devastating.

It must be noted that the Clinton campaign has spent tens of millions of dollars on ads. The Trump campaign has only just started to run ads in a handful of states. Hillary should be clobbering Trump! Yet the race is still close.

And Hillary is getting desperate. Today her campaign unveiled a disgusting video that attempts to link Donald Trump to the KKK and smears his supporters as racists. For Democrats to be reaching so low so early suggests to me that they are really worried. It is also a sign of what we can expect to see in the days ahead.

Now is the time to double down. Make sure all your friends and family members are registered to vote.

And, please, help us fight back!

    Iranian Boats Threaten U.S. Ships

Earlier this week, we reported that Obama may have backed away from his Syrian “red line” because the Iranians made it clear that if we attacked their ally Assad, they would walk away from the nuclear negotiations. Obama has empowered Iran and its allies, while at the same time distancing the United States from our ally Israel.

The Iranians understand propaganda and the power of perception, particularly in the Middle East. Osama bin Laden once said that Muslims like to follow the “strong horse.” Not surprisingly, Tehran is trying to prove that it is the strong horse in the Middle East, and so it is constantly trying to humiliate Obama and the United States.

The U.S. Navy suffered a terrible embarrassment earlier this year with the capture and mistreatment of our sailors. Now the Navy is having to endure further humiliation as Iranian boats harass our ships.

Yesterday, four Iranian boats approached the U.S.S. Nitze near the Strait of Hormuz. Various warnings, including radio messages, the ship’s whistle and flares were all ignored. The boats came within 300 yards of the Nitze, which changed course “to de-escalate the situation and avoid collision.”

A second ship, the U.S.S. Squall, was also harassed by Iranian boats. The Squall was forced to fire warning shots when the Iranian boats came as close as 200 yards.

This isn’t a game. The Iranian navy is no match for the U.S. fleet. But there is one tactic that Iran has threatened which does concern our naval commanders. What would we do if a dozen small boats, each one packed with explosives, started racing toward a ship from various directions?

Ship defenses do not easily provide an answer to this challenge. Any answer would require us to start firing long before they were close enough to potentially ram one of our ships.

After seven and a half years, it’s apparent this president is clueless. There are deep fears in Washington that the aggressive removal of military officers in recent years and their replacement by political hacks has left the Pentagon woefully unprepared to prevent a disaster from happening.

    A Mohammed Problem?

Two headlines today on the Drudge Report got my attention:

“Mohammed in Minneapolis Charged in ISIS Plot” and “Mohammed in Mississippi gets 8 years after ISIS recruits.”

Interesting. Maybe Obama and Hillary are right — maybe Islam doesn’t have a problem with terrorism. Maybe we have a Mohammed problem.

Here’s an idea: Perhaps instead of banning Muslim immigration, we just ban people named Mohammed!

    One University Fights Back

It’s no secret that the left dominates our university campuses. But I was pleased to read this morning that at least one major university was fighting back against some of the worst elements of political correctness.

Kudos to Dr. John Ellison, Dean of Students at the University of Chicago. He sent a letter to all incoming freshmen telling them to check their “trigger warnings” and to stuff their “safe spaces.”

I hope you enjoy these excerpts as much as I did:

“Members of our community are encouraged to speak, write, listen, challenge, and learn, without fear of censorship. Civility and mutual respect are vital to all of us, and freedom of expression does not mean the freedom to harass or threaten others. You will find that we expect members of our community to be engaged in rigorous debate, discussion, and even disagreement. At times this may challenge you and even cause discomfort.

“Our commitment to academic freedom means that we do not support so called ‘trigger warnings,’ we do not cancel invited speakers because their topics might prove controversial, and we do not condone the creation of intellectual ‘safe spaces’ where individuals can retreat from ideas and perspectives at odds with their own.

“Fostering the free exchange of ideas reinforces a related University priority — building a campus that welcomes people of all backgrounds.”
    Now that is real tolerance!

You can read the entire letter here.

Hillary Exposed

Hillary Clinton is taking it on the chin today. The Associated Press story we mentioned in yesterday’s report exposing her pay-to-play scheme continues to dominate the news.

The front page of the New York Post has a great headline: “DOUGH NATION.” See it here.

The Washington Post editorial board blasted Hillary, writing:

“After promising to avoid any conflict or appearance of conflict, Mrs. Clinton left ample room for perceptions that access to the Clinton Foundation could enable access to the government. Foundation staff appealed to Mrs. Clinton’s staff on behalf of donors, including foreign ones. . . Impressions such as these are corrosive to national institutions.”
USA Today’s editors wrote: “The only way to eliminate the odor surrounding the foundation is to wind it down and put it in mothballs, starting today.”

In case you missed it, let me remind you of what the Associated Press discovered: “More than half the people outside the government who met with Hillary Clinton while she was secretary of state gave money — either personally or through companies or groups — to the Clinton Foundation. It’s an extraordinary proportion indicating her possible ethics challenges if elected president.”

If elected, Hillary will be the most ethically challenged president we have had in a very long time!

As Tom Fitton of Judicial Watch recently said, “It is impossible to tell where the Clinton Foundation ends and the State Department begins.” The “extraordinary proportion” of foundation donors who got access to the secretary of state is too great to be coincidental. But this is what the Clintons do best.

Do we really want to relive the fundraising scandals of the 1990s? Remember the Lincoln bedroom scandal? Who can forget the Buddhist monks handing over piles of cash to the Clinton campaign? There is a disturbing pattern of corruption with the Clintons.

We have a chance to end it on November 8th!

The Left Turns On A Dime

Think back a moment to the 2012 presidential debates. Ancient history, I know. But perhaps you recall the debate on foreign policy, in which President Obama mocked Mitt Romney for saying that Russia was our “biggest geopolitical foe.” Obama said at the time that the 1980s were “calling to ask for their foreign policy back because, you know, the Cold War’s been over for 20 years.”

Then-Secretary of State Hillary piled on, saying, “Russia has been an ally. They’re in the [Iran nuclear] talks with us, they have worked with us in Afghanistan and have been very helpful . . . in other ways. So I think it’s somewhat dated to be looking backwards instead of being realistic about where we agree. . .”

In 2010, while Hillary was trying to “reset” our relationship with Russia, she said, “One of the fears that I hear from Russia is that somehow the United States wants Russia to be weak. That could not be farther from the truth. Our goal is to help strengthen Russia.” (Mission accomplished, Hillary!)

The point of this walk down memory lane is to demonstrate how quickly progressives can abandon any position and turn on a dime when it suits them.

Not that long ago, Russia was an ally we were trying to strengthen. But when Donald Trump suggests that he can work with Russia, Democrats attack him as “Putin’s Puppet.” Suddenly, the left is eager to bring back the Cold War and fight the Russian bear!

Four years ago, Obama and Clinton were making Romney look like a warmonger when he warned about Putin’s ambitions. Today they are trying to make Trump look naive for thinking he can work with Russia.

Soros & Islamophobia

For some time now, I have been warning about the alliance between the left and radical Islamists. Almost nothing unites these two disparate groups except for their hatred of Judeo-Christian values and Israel. But as is so often the case with the left, it doesn’t take long to discover a link to George Soros.

One of the greatest frustrations of the Obama years has been the smothering influence of political correctness, especially when it comes to critical matters like counterterrorism and fighting radical Islam. New information, however, indicates this is not just the result of naive liberals.

Documents from Soros’ Open Society Foundation were hacked and recently published online. Among them is a January 2011 memo entitled, “U.S. Models for Combating Xenophobia and Intolerance.” That may sound innocent enough, but the title is very deceptive.

As Matthew Vadum explains, “The memo is also a character assassination roadmap that enlists the assistance of disreputable left-wing groups including Media Matters for America, Muslim Public Affairs Council, and the Southern Poverty Law Center. . . The 2011 strategy memo is a template for a well-funded smear campaign against critics of Islam.”

Once again, we see that the left is not interested in a reasoned, rational debate about radical Islam. It refuses to even utter the very words.

Instead, it dismisses the obvious threats of mass shootings, suicide bombings and random stabbings as “Islamophobia,” while telling us the real danger is climate change. This is delusional!

And George Soros is behind it all — funding the effort led by the left-wing Center for American Progress (CAP). The Center for American Progress was founded by John Podesta, former White House Chief of Staff under Bill Clinton, and chairman of Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign.

Thanks to Soros’ largesse, CAP has produced reports attacking leading conservatives, including me, who dare to speak out against radical Islam. A CAP report released last year includes a chapter headlined: “Islamophobia Masquerading as Law Enforcement Counterterrorism Training.”

My friends, the radical left is using political correctness to take America hostage. It is trying to gag us and blind us, trying to shut down debate and prevent us from seeing reality. It is threatening our national security by ensuring that we do not have a serious conversation about doing what is necessary to defeat this growing threat to Western Civilization.

If elected, Hillary Clinton will do George Soros’ bidding. She has already vowed to increase Muslim immigration by 500%. She will put Obama’s open borders policies on steroids. Our country cannot afford four more years of this!

Identity Politics Over Performance

The Olympics are supposed to be a model of meritocracy — the pinnacle of sports talent. Olympism, the Olympic Charter states, “seeks to create a way of life based on the joy found in effort, the educational value of good example and respect for universal fundamental ethical principles.”

Those principles were featured prominently throughout this year’s Games. Unfortunately, some in the media didn’t seem to notice. You can read more in my latest column at The Daily Caller.

Secure Borders Matter

The Trump phenomenon in the U.S. and the various populist movements sweeping Europe have forced the globalists to become more open about their agenda. The latest example comes from Jean-Claude Juncker, leader of the European Union. Yesterday, Mr. Juncker told a group of aspiring young journalists, “Borders are the worst invention ever made by politicians.”

In that revealing comment, Juncker was echoing George Soros, who last year referred to national borders as “the obstacle.”

Most people, no matter where they live, are astonished when they hear comments like that. Everyone knows that you don’t have a nation if you don’t have defined and defensible borders. When it comes to preserving your country, secure borders matter!

When people hear comments like Juncker’s, they think he is nuts. But elites think it is controversial when they hear someone like Donald Trump or the leaders of Britain’s Brexit movement suggest that borders should be secured. These completely different worldviews are increasingly in competition.

Unfortunately, politicians like Hillary Clinton are still playing rhetorical games. The left will say, “Of course, we’re going to secure our borders.” Obama has claimed that our borders are more secure than ever. But the left is constantly pursuing policies that make our borders less secure.

It was reported yesterday, 30,000 illegal immigrants “from countries of terrorist concern” crossed our borders last year. Hardly what I consider secure.

Obama Follows Trump’s Lead

Donald Trump and Mike Pence went to Louisiana last week to see the devastation caused by the historic flooding firsthand. The media blasted the trip as a publicity stunt. But top Louisiana Democrats, including former Senator Mary Landrieu and Governor John Edwards, thanked and praised them for drawing attention to the state’s plight.

It seems President Obama is following Donald Trump’s lead — he will visit the state today. I hope he begins his tour by apologizing to the flood victims for lecturing them about their alleged racism.

The man who is always talking about empathy refused to give up his time at Martha’s Vineyard or cancel a round at the golf course. But at least he is finally going.

Meanwhile, where is Hillary Clinton? It seems she is too busy attending multiple fundraisers with Hollywood and Silicon Valley celebrities. How about donating all that cash to the Louisiana flood victims, Hillary?

Speaking Of Cash. . .

The Clinton Foundation continues to cause trouble for Hillary. Here’s the latest:

  • State Department call logs reveal that Laura Graham, chief operating officer of the Clinton Foundation, left 148 messages for Cheryl Mills, Hillary Clinton’s chief of staff, during a two year period. That’s one message every five days!
  • We are also learning that the prince of Bahrain, who donated $32 million to the Clinton Foundation, was frustrated by his inability to get a meeting with Secretary Clinton through “normal” State Department channels. Then Clinton Foundation executives contacted Huma Abedin about their “good friend.” Two days later, the prince had a 10:00 a.m. meeting with the secretary of state.
  • And there’s this news today from the Associated Press: “More than half the people outside the government who met with Hillary Clinton while she was secretary of state gave money — either personally or through companies or groups — to the Clinton Foundation. It’s an extraordinary proportion indicating her possible ethics challenges if elected president.”

Hillary’s defenders have said that this is not evidence of “pay-to-play,” there were no favors, just access. Well, access is the biggest favor of all in Washington. If a key figure can get someone into places that average Americans can’t, that is a tremendous favor.

As Donald Trump said, Hillary Clinton turned the State Department into her own personal hedge fund.

Speaking of Hillary’s scandals, our friends at Breitbart came up with one of the best lines of the year. Referring to Clinton’s attempt to blame Colin Powell for her use of a private email server, Breitbart writes, “She tried to frame an innocent black man.”

    Trumped Up Charges

Hillary Clinton kicked off her West Coast tour with an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel’s show last night. She repeated the trumped up charge that Obama and others have made — that statements by Donald Trump and conservatives about radical Islam are being used by ISIS to recruit more jihadists.

Predictably, there won’t be any media outrage about Clinton’s comments, unlike the furor that erupted when Trump said the policies pursued by Obama and Clinton made them founders of ISIS. But I couldn’t help seeing the irony of Hillary wagging her finger and saying that Trump’s statements have helped terrorists.

What helps terrorists is exposing our national security secrets on an unsecured server.

What helps terrorists is making a sweetheart deal with the world’s leading state-sponsor of terrorism.

What helps terrorists is being unwilling to combat the ideology that drives jihadis to commit acts of terror.

    Hillary’s Health

There has been a lot of chatter online and in the news lately about Hillary’s health. The left is mocking the concern as a conspiracy theory. Clinton and Kimmel piled on last night.

Back in 2008, the left attacked John McCain with suggestions that he was mentally unstable due to his time in a POW camp. “John McCain is not somebody that I would like to see with his finger near the red button,” one ad said.

I’m not a doctor but there are reasons to ask questions.

Clinton has had a series of coughing fits. She’s fallen several times and once got a concussion. Initially her handlers downplayed it, but Bill described it as “a terrible concussion that required six months of very serious work to get over.” She later developed a blot clot and finally reemerged in public with special prism glasses.

Yet her campaign has the audacity to demand that Donald Trump release his medical records!

    Left-wing Fascists

There was another ugly event Friday night. Did Trump supporters attack peaceful Clinton fans? No, you would have heard about that “breaking news.”

Instead, left-wing protestors attacked a Trump fundraising event in Minneapolis. Trump’s motorcade was ambushed and attendees were assaulted, spat on, and threatened. Police told people to leave through another exit, but did little else to stop the violence.

The media, Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton were all silent, as were many elements of the Republican coalition.

The #NeverTrump crowd has a moral obligation to step up and say what they would normally say in such circumstances — that these left-wing fascist tactics must be condemned. (GOP leaders such as Speaker Ryan and Senate Majority Leader McConnell should do the same.) But because the people being hurt are Trump and his supporters, some Republicans join with big media and ignore it.

Trump is constantly hammered for every supporter with a questionable background. Well, Hillary Clinton should be forced to condemn the thuggery that takes place on her behalf whenever it happens.

Big Media Moves On

Most fair observers agree that last week was a good week for Donald Trump, featuring major policy speeches with unifying themes and repeated appeals to minority voters. As we noted Friday, the polls were already starting to show some movement in Trump’s favor. The Los Angeles Times daily tracking poll had Clinton leading Trump by two points last week. Now he’s ahead. We’ll have to see whether additional polling confirms this momentum.

Yet in the middle of all this, the Washington Post decides to move on from the election. Convinced that Clinton is cruising to victory, the Post is looking forward to the opening days of President Hillary’s administration. Over the weekend, the paper ran a report headlined: “With A Comfortable Lead, Clinton Begins Laying Plans For Her White House Agenda.”

That is a clear example of big media repeating the main Clinton narrative — that the election is over. Forget the debates. Forget the remaining 78 days of campaigning. Ignore the email server and the Clinton Foundation scandals. The Washington Post has called the race and it’s time for the rest of us to move on and get on board with the left’s agenda.

I promise you, my friends, that’s not happening here. We will keep fighting, with your continued support, from now until November 8th to make sure Hillary Clinton never steps foot in the Oval Office again!

Get Your Checks In Now

Speaking of the Clinton Foundation, it was announced late last week that if Hillary wins, the Clinton Foundation will no longer accept foreign money. But why was the foundation accepting foreign money in the first place? I discussed this issue on Fox Business last week. If you missed my interview, you can watch it here.

But here’s the more important point: What the Clinton Foundation did in making that announcement was to essentially broadcast to anyone interested, “Get your bribes in now! The window of opportunity is closing.”

They are conceding that it is not ethically appropriate for a foundation, led by a former president and a top government official, to accept money from industries with business pending before the government. So with just 81 days remaining, they publicly told anyone hoping to take advantage of the influence game that now was the time to get their money in so they could get on the list for future favors.

Clinton Blames Powell

Desperate to deflect attention from her growing email scandal, Hillary Clinton attempted to blame former Secretary of State Colin Powell for the fact that she put our national security secrets in jeopardy. It was revealed late last week that in her interview with the FBI, Clinton told agents that Powell had recommended using a private email address.

According to CNN, former Secretary of State Madeline Albright organized a dinner of former secretaries of state in 2009. Over dessert, Albright reportedly asked them “to offer one salient bit of counsel” to Mrs. Clinton. Powell’s recommendation: Use her own email address, as he had done.

Now, here’s some context.

To begin with, Secretary Powell says he has no recollection of the dinner. He did, however, send Hillary a memo describing his use of a personal email account. But to suggest that Hillary did exactly what Powell did is beyond misleading.

When Colin Powell became secretary of state, the department had an extremely limited internal email system. That deficiency was corrected in 2005, long before Hillary Clinton became secretary of state.

Moreover, Powell did not use his personal email account to handle classified messages. He strictly used the secured State Department network for such exchanges. He never had a private server that he exclusively used for all his communications. Nor did he delete tens of thousands of emails.

Asked about the controversy over the weekend, Powell replied, “Her people have been trying to pin it on me. The truth is, she was using [the private email server] for a year before I sent her a memo telling her what I did.”

In other words, Hillary didn’t get the idea from Powell.

By the way, this scandal isn’t going away any time soon. We knew based on FBI Director James Comey’s public statements that the FBI had discovered some of Hillary’s missing emails. But check out this headline from The Hill: “FBI Uncovers 15K Undisclosed Emails In Clinton Probe.”

Hillary’s Huma Problem

Questions have been raised about Huma Abedin, one of Hillary Clinton’s most trusted aides, before. Her parents were closely linked to the Muslim Brotherhood. Now those connections are getting a second look.

For example, it was reported over the weekend by the New York Post that Huma — not her parents — for ten years worked for “a radical Muslim publication that opposed women’s rights and blamed the U.S. for 9/11.” Given Abedin’s close relationship to Clinton, and her influence on policy, this would seem to be fertile ground for investigative journalists.

Unfortunately, many in Washington don’t want to talk about it because they are afraid of being accused of “Islamophobia.”
