Hillary Lied

There’s an old joke I’m sure many of you have heard before: How do you know when a politician is lying? Answer: Their lips are moving.

I just couldn’t get that joke out of my head last night as I watched Clinton deliver a speech full of distortions. It would take volumes to go through them all, but here’s one of the most brazen lies she delivered during her acceptance speech last night:

“I’m not here to repeal the Second Amendment. I’m not here to take away your guns. I just don’t want you to be shot by someone who shouldn’t have a gun in the first place.”
First of all, it is ludicrous to imply, as she did, that there is anyone in America who does want people to get shot by someone who shouldn’t have a gun. But, more importantly, sheWOULD repeal the Second Amendment!

This is a woman, who identified the NRA as an “enemy” she was most proud to fight against.

Every time there is a tragic shooting — every time — the kneejerk liberal reaction is to impose more laws that would not prevent the shootings. They would, however, make it more difficult for you, a law abiding American, to exercise your rights.

When Hillary talks about appointing Supreme Court justices, she talks about the kinds of progressives already on the high court who have voted against the Second Amendment.

She praised Obama’s choice of Merrick Garland to replace Justice Antonin Scalia.

As you may know, it was Justice Scalia who authored the Heller decision in 2008 upholding the individual right under the Second Amendment to own a firearm for self-defense. That was a five-to-four decision.

Right now the Supreme Court is divided four-to-four on the plain meaning of the Second Amendment and many other critical issues. The next president will pick the justice who decides whether the Second Amendment survives or is effectively repealed. Those are the stakes.

And, for the record, Merrick Garland was on the wrong side of the Second Amendment in Heller case.

So last night an untrustworthy politician, who lied about Benghazi and who lied about her emails, stands on a national stage and lies to our face knowing that the media won’t call her out. I just did!

Does She Deserve A Raise?

Throughout the primary campaign, Bernie Sanders made much of the fact that Clinton was paid outrageous speaking fees for private speeches to big banks. Her standard fee was as much as $225,000 per speech. I hope the banks got a better speech than the one she delivered last night.

Democrat Disrespect

Throughout the week, the left’s disrespect for traditional American values has been on full display. Here are a few examples:

American flags (and stupid protestors) were burned.

One speaker celebrated her abortion to thunderous applause.

Delegates heckled General John Allen.

They turned their backs on a Medal of Honor recipient.

At least one delegate objected to chants of “USA! USA!”

They interrupted a moment of silence for slain police officers.

Now to be fair, the majority of delegates were not this disrespectful and intolerant. But I guarantee you that if anyone at the Republican convention had disrespected women or homosexuals, that is all you would hear about on the major networks. The only network that is reporting what happened at the Democrat convention this week is Fox.

Democrat Denial

In the last two weeks, Donald Trump and Mike Pence have, I believe, rightly emphasized that our country is facing big problems at home and abroad. The breakdown of law and order here, rising terrorist threats across the globe and a stagnant economy are just some of the big issues we must address. Yet they have been accused of being “dark and dangerous.”

The American people know that things are not going well. Just 17% of Americans — 17% — say they are satisfied with the state of our union.

But Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton, Tim Kaine and their media allies have been in full-throated denial, telling us just how great things are and what a good job they are doing. In fact, Hillary even said last night that Barack and Joe aren’t getting the credit they deserve. My friends, denial is dangerous!

While thinking about the Democrats’ argument this morning, two breaking news stories showed how reality has a way of intruding: Two courageous police officers were shot in San Diego during a traffic stop. One has since died. The war on cops continues.

Then came a shocking report on economic activity in the second quarter of this year. Economists had predicted growth of 2.6%. They were off by 50%. The Commerce Department reported this morning that second quarter GDP amounted to a paltry 1.2%. Moreover, they downgraded first quarter growth from 1.1% to 0.8%. That is not a level of economic activity that can provide America’s families with jobs and decent incomes.

We deserve better.

Hillary Clinton is the candidate of the status quo. She represents more scandal and more Obama. I think we have had enough of both. We need real change and real hope!

A Picture Of Hope

Speaking of hope, I want to share a picture with you that was sent to us late yesterday afternoon. Click here.

It is a picture of Mike Pence and Donald Trump praying together before a campaign event. With all the evil in the world and all we face at this time in history, I found the photo very reassuring. I hope you do too!

By the way, Governor Pence was campaigning in Michigan yesterday. He told an audience there, “If we appoint strict constructionists to the Supreme Court as Donald Trump intends to do, I believe we will see Roe v. Wade consigned to the ash heap of history where it belongs.” I couldn’t agree more!

The Donald Trumps The DNC

Donald Trump’s flurry of campaign events and press conferences yesterday was brilliant counterprogramming. Trump had most of the media talking about him on the very day when President Barack Obama and vice presidential nominee Tim Kaine were slated to give major addresses at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia.

If you missed the controversy, Trump said: “Russia, if you are listening, I hope you are able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing. I think you will probably be rewarded mightily by the press.”

As he explained this morning, Trump was being sarcastic. But as we know, the left and their media allies will twist anything to smear conservatives.

Clinton campaign spokesman Jake Sullivan accused Trump of encouraging “a foreign power to conduct espionage against his political opponent,” adding, “This has gone from being a matter of curiosity . . . to being a national security issue.”

Why are they so upset? According to Hillary, there’s nothing in those 30,000 deleted emails other than her thoughts on wedding plans and yoga routines.

Columnist Charles Krauthammer praised Trump’s comment as “extremely clever,” adding:

“These are the [emails] that were supposedly not work-related. . . So, if that’s what really is in the 30,000 deleted emails, then there’s no national security to be involved at all. So, the Clinton campaign ends up admitting that perhaps there really is work-related, if not classified stuff, on the emails which she deleted.”
Some Democrats actually accused Donald Trump of. . . treason! Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO) told MSNBC, “He is inviting an aggressive country that we are really worried about to invade us. This is ridiculous, and, frankly, it borders on treasonous.”

Rep. Steve Israel (D-NY) said, “Well, that borders on treason. . . It’s one thing to be unfit for command, but today he’s proved he’s dangerously unfit for command.”

Really? Whether it was her bungled reset with Russia, her lying about Benghazi or the “extremely careless” manner in which she handled national security secrets, Hillary Clinton has repeatedly demonstrated that she is unfit for command.

And for all the outrage about the Russians now, remember when Barack Obama was caught on an open mic whispering to a Putin confidant, “Tell Vladimir I’ll have a lot more flexibility after the election.”

Do Democrats really want to have a discussion about treason?

Perhaps Mr. Sullivan could fill us in on his secret talks with the ayatollah about legitimizing the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program.

That terrible deal poses an existential threat to Israel, empowers the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism and undermines America’s national security. And Obama, Clinton, Kaine and the Democrats forced it through by circumventing the Constitution’s treaty provisions!

San Francisco Values

Every once in a while, in unguarded moments, a left-wing politician accidentally speaks the truth. Yesterday, Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-San Francisco) dropped her mask when she was asked why Hillary was struggling with working class voters, and white men in particular.

Trying to explain Hillary’s gender gap, Pelosi blamed it on the “three G’s,” saying they voted Republican “because of guns, because of gays, and because of God. . . God being the woman’s right to choose.”

Perhaps that sounds familiar. During a 2008 fundraiser in San Francisco, Barack Obama was asked why he was struggling with voters in rural Pennsylvania. He said these voters were “bitter” and they “cling to guns or religion or antipathy toward people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment.”

In other words, he dismissed them as a bunch of intolerant bigots.

These remarks by Pelosi and Obama prove the exact opposite — it’s left-wing elites who are intolerant bigots.

They just can’t comprehend why any American would think it is wrong to destroy unborn children or think marriage should be between a man and a woman. They just can’t understand why anyone would believe the Second Amendment is an important right worth protecting.

It is incomprehensible to them that blue-collar workers would be upset that Obama and Hillary keep allowing millions of illegal immigrants into the country to compete for their jobs or force them to compete against the low wages of foreign workers.

The left claims to be for the little guy, but it must be talking about short professors or journalists because it is ignoring large numbers of Middle Americans.

But if Pelosi is admitting that most working class people believe in God, is she also admitting that the left is against God? Some of the delegates at the 2012 convention certainly seemed to be when they booed the inclusion of God in the party’s platform. The Obama Administration has demonstrated its hostility to Christianity on multiple occasions.

Obama’s Anger

Barack Obama delivered the keynote address at the Democratic National Convention last night. It was vintage Obama.

Once again, the man who talks so much about hope could not stop himself from demeaning his opponents and dividing the American people. Obama alternated his remarks from praising Hillary Clinton to ripping into Donald Trump.

At one point, he said this: ” That’s why anyone who threatens our values, whether fascists or communists or jihadists or homegrown demagogues, will always fail in the end.”

The reference to “homegrown demagogues” was a clear jab at Trump. But, as he has done time and time again, Obama lumped his political opponents in with our enemies — fascists, communists and jihadists.

I suppose I should be glad he actually uttered the word “jihadists,” but he almost never displayed this kind of passion after jihadists killed Americans at Fort Hood, in San Bernardino or Orlando. Obama seems to reserve his vitriol not for ISIS, but for conservatives.

While mocking Trump, Obama also said: “Our power doesn’t come from some self-declared savior promising that he alone can restore order. We don’t look to be ruled.”

For a moment I thought he was talking about himself! It certainly is a perfect description of the man who promised to slow the rising seas and who resorted to extra-constitutional actions whenever he wanted to bypass Congress to get his way.

Obama and left-wing elites seemingly get up in the morning not thinking about how they can make America safe from radical Islam, but how they can make America safe from conservatives. I suspect blue-collar workers are finally beginning to get that.

Why Pence Makes Sense

Whenever I talk to conservatives across the country about the presidential election, a common refrain is that they find Donald Trump refreshing in many ways. They like that he eschews political correctness and promises to stand up for ordinary Americans against the elites.

But they are concerned that he has never before held elected office and wonder whether he’d enact conservative policies if he becomes president. With his selection of Indiana Gov. Mike Pence as his running mate, Mr. Trump went a long way to assuaging those concerns.

ISIS Threatens The West

From the attack in Nice to the beheading of a priest in Normandy, ISIS is on the march. Democrats may not want to talk about it, but I will. This is a conversation we MUST have.

Before we move on and forget what happened to Father Jacques Hamel, here are some of the latest details. There is a mosque just a block away from the church were Father Hamel was murdered. Ironically, the mosque sits on land that was donated by the Catholic Church.

According to French reports, the community around the mosque is “known to be an anchor of the jihadist network,” and the mosque has produced several terrorists. In addition, the church where Father Hamel was murdered was found to be on an ISIS hit list.

Think about this. Islam means submission. Some say it means peace. But look at how the faith is practiced: Muslims get on their knees and prostrate themselves en masse bowing to Allah in submission.

What did the Islamic supremacists do to Father Hamel? They forced him to his knees. They made him bow in submission and then they killed him.

A nun who witnessed the attack said the Islamists also started “preaching in Arabic in front of the altar.” I have not seen a translation yet of what the jihadists preached at the altar, but I suspect it could have been the Shahada: “I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.”

Were French authorities monitoring the mosque given its history? Are French authorities and the French people willing to tolerate churches being on hit lists? Are European leaders prepared to confront this evil that is threatening Judeo-Christian civilization?

Sadly, as Europeans have become ever more “enlightened” and progressive, they have abandoned their traditional faith. The great churches of Europe are largely empty. Many have been converted to mosques. And as Europe imports more and more Muslims, Islam is filling the void left by a decaying and decadent culture.

By the way, ISIS is now warning that London and Washington are next on its hit list.

Hypocrisy Takes The Stage

Day two of the Democratic National Convention saw some history and a whole lot of hypocrisy. For the record books, Hillary Clinton became the first female presidential nominee of a major political party. But Hillary’s moment of glory wasn’t without controversy as a large contingent of Sanders delegates walked off the convention floor in protest.

But beyond that, yesterday’s lineup of speakers was surreal. For example, members of “Mothers of the Movement,” mothers of black men and teenagers who have been killed in altercations with the police, took the stage. As I noted yesterday, one of the women was Lezley McSpadden, the mother of Ferguson teenager Michael Brown.

Brown’s death triggered the Ferguson riots and gave us the myth of “Hands Up, Don’t Shoot.” Michael Brown was not a victim of anything but his own illegal behavior.

Almost immediately following this tribute to black lives was an address by Cecile Richards, president of Planned Parenthood. Obviously, Richards doesn’t place much value on the lives of black babies.

Later on, actress Lena Dunham took the stage. You may recall that Dunham made news for accusing a Republican acquaintance of raping her while they were in college. Then we found out that it never happened.

Now, don’t get me wrong, folks. I’m not trying to belittle police brutality or sexual assault. I am belittling the Democrat Party’s elevation of myths over facts — something we have seen far too much of over the past eight years.

But then after all the talk about women’s rights from Cecile Richards, Lena Dunham, Meryl Streep, Senator Barbara Boxer and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, Democrats turned the stage over to . . . Bill Clinton — an accused sexual predator!

You can’t make this up. With all the Hollywood glitz and glamour on display last night, did no one question the optics of this line up? Where was the continuity team? The hypocrisy is just stunning!

Bill Clinton has been accused of sexual assault by multiple women. We know he abused his position of power and a young intern in the Oval Office. He was impeached and lost his law license because he lied under oath and attempted to obstruct justice. He paid a huge settlement to Paula Jones.

Bill Clinton IS the war on women. He should be shunned, not celebrated.

Now They Care

Outrage over the likely Russian hacking of DNC computers continues to grow today. Suddenly, all these pacifist Democrats in Philadelphia sound like they are ready to go to war.

Over the last eight years, the Russians, the Chinese and the Iranians have hacked the State Department, Pentagon, the White House, dozens of banks, a dam, and seized almost all vital information on virtually every current and past federal employee.

The reaction of the Obama Administration to each attack was largely muted. But when the DNC is hacked, that’s beyond the pale. And if the Russians hacked the DNC, I guarantee they hacked Hillary’s private server too, and they have her missing 30,000 “personal” emails.

Trump’s Tour De Force

Democrats have never seen anything like this. Quite frankly, Republicans haven’t seen anything like this — a candidate who breaks all the rules.

Usually, candidates go dark during the opposition party’s convention. The media are focused on the convention and the candidate takes a break from the grind. But not Donald Trump.

Trump stepped up his activities this week, and today he delivered a tour de force. He did what Hillary Clinton has been afraid to do for months. Trump called a press conference and told reporters to ask him anything.

There’s not enough room to explain everything that was discussed, but here are some comments that do explain why Trump is gaining more traction than Mitt Romney or John McCain ever did.

Referring to Obama’s legacy, Trump said:

“I think President Obama has been the most ignorant president in our history. His views of the world, as he says, don’t jive and the world is a mess. You look at what is happening with migration, with Syria, with Libya, with Iraq, with everything he’s touched. He has been a disaster as a president. He will go down as one of the worst presidents in the history of our country. It is a mess. And I believe Hillary Clinton will be even worse. . . When President Obama entered office he didn’t know anything and today he knows less.”
Guess who agrees with him? Malik Obama! The president’s half-brother is voting for Donald Trump!

And Trump is gaining momentum. The latest CBS poll has Trump up one point. The latest CNN poll has Trump up three points. And the most recent Los Angeles Times poll has Trump leading Hillary Clinton by seven points!

A True Martyr

Not far from the Normandy beaches where Allied forced began the liberation of Nazi-occupied Europe, Islamofascists loyal to ISIS stormed a church this morning. They forced Father Jacques Hamel, an 86 year-old priest, to his knees, beheaded him and filmed the attack.

A nun also suffered life-threatening wounds before French police shot and killed the jihadists. One of the attackers had been previously convicted of terrorism charges and was supposed to be under electronic surveillance.

News of this disgusting attack is being met with widespread revulsion in France, throughout Europe and here in the U.S. It is important to remember that this is not an isolated event.

Islamic supremacists have been engaged in the mass murder of Christians throughout the Middle East and across Africa. Churches have been burned, Christian girls have been kidnapped and sold into sex slavery or forced to convert to Islam. Nuns have been raped and families have been burned alive.

And yet even as this carnage continues, few Christian refugees are making it to Europe or the United States under Barack Obama. Instead our elites demand more Muslims be admitted.

When will the insanity end?

Obama’s Failed Foreign Policy

In a recent column, Washington Post columnist Jackson Diehl notes that when Barack Obama took office seven years ago, he set out to reset America’s foreign policy not only with Russia, but most especially with Muslim-majority countries.

He took his message of “hope and change” to Turkey and Egypt, delivering major addresses in both nations. But as the Arab Spring erupted, Obama embraced more radical elements like the Muslim Brotherhood.

Obama alienated U.S. allies and friends, and allowed Islamists to seize power. He stood by while Syria devolved into civil war. He allowed ISIS to emerge in Iraq. He allowed Libya to crumble into chaos. And to top it all off, he cut a deal with the ayatollah legitimizing Iran’s nuclear program.

Diehl writes that Turkey and Egypt now view the U.S. with deep suspicion, and are increasingly turning to Russia. He warns that the next president will find these pillars of “U.S. engagement in the Middle East” have become “Muslim anchors of an emerging global movement: unfree and anti-American.”

Pro-Life America

A new Marist poll finds that most Americans, including many who call themselves “pro-choice,” reject the abortion-on-demand mantra of the left. For example:

  • 78% of Americans support restrictions on abortion that would effectively limit the procedure to the first three months of pregnancy.
  • 62% of Americans oppose taxpayer funding of abortions.
  • While the Supreme Court recently overturned a number of commonsense regulations passed by the state of Texas, the Marist poll finds that those regulations were overwhelmingly popular with the American people. Seventy-eight percent of Americans believe abortion clinics should meet the same standards as other surgery centers, and 70% percent of Americans want doctors who perform abortions to be required to have hospital admitting privileges.

Here’s some more good news: The pro-life activists who exposed Planned Parenthoods barbaric business practices of selling baby body parts were cleared today. The last remaining charges against David Daleiden and Sandra Merritt were dropped this morning.

Congressman Compares Israeli Jews To “Termites”

Congressman Hank Johnson of Georgia compared Jewish families living in Judea and Samaria to termites yesterday. Speaking of the families building their homes, Rep. Johnson said, “There has been a steady [stream], almost like termites can get into a residence and eat before you know that you’ve been eaten up and you fall in on yourself. . . You see one home after another being appropriated by Jewish people. . .”

Rep. Johnson’s disturbing remarks come just a few weeks after a 13 year-old Israeli girl was stabbed to death while sleeping in her own bed by a Palestinian jihadist. Her murderer was incited by a steady barrage of extremist rhetoric in Palestinian media and culture.

It is outrageous that a member of the House of Representatives would use the same kind of ugly rhetoric.

    Goodbye, Tim

Yesterday, pastor, author and evangelical leader Dr. Tim LaHaye passed away after suffering from a stroke in recent days. He was 90 years old.

Dr. LaHaye is perhaps best known as the author of the “Left Behind” series, which Jerry Fawell once said left a greater impact on Christianity “than that of any other book in modern times, outside the Bible.”

He was also very instrumental, along with Jerry Falwell, in founding the Moral Majority, which contributed enormously to Ronald Reagan’s successful campaign for the presidency in 1980. That effort changed the course of America and the world.

As many of you know, he was married to a wonderful lady, Dr. Beverly LaHaye, founder of Concerned Women for America. Earlier this month, the LaHaye’s celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary.

Dr. LaHaye is survived by his wife, Beverly, his brother, Richard, his sister, Margaret, four children, nine grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

Please join Carol and me in praying for the LaHaye family.

  • Random Convention Observations
  • Hardly a day goes by without ISIS inflicting another atrocity on the world. Yet the radical Islamic supremacists were not mentioned once yesterday by any of the five dozen speakers at the Democratic National Convention.
  • During her speech last night, Michelle Obama said, “This election . . . is about who will have the power to shape our children for the next four or eight years of their lives.” Given the divisiveness of her husband, I shudder to think what lessons our children have learned over the past eight years.

We have seen our police disrespected, fundamental values mocked and our Constitution belittled. And I think our children learned way too much from the last Clinton White House!

  • Speaking of the police, Lezley McSpadden, mother of slain Ferguson teenager Michael Brown, will address the convention tonight. It was Brown’s death that sparked the Ferguson riots and the Black Lives Matter movement. But why is she speaking?

Obama’s Justice Department concluded that “Hands up, Don’t shoot” was a lie. With all due respect to Ms. McSpadden for her loss, her son was not an innocent victim. He was shot because he attacked a police officer. I hope she uses her time tonight to encourage America’s young people to be respectful of the men and women in law enforcement.

  • While mocking Donald Trump and conservatives for suggesting we need a wall to keep illegal immigrants, gangs and terrorists out of the country, Democrats erected an eight-foot tall, four-mile long fence around the convention arena. They also built a wall around the speakers’ podium! I guess the left is more worried about protecting its convention than America.
  • Where was Old Glory? There was a Soviet flag. There were Palestinian flags. But there were no American flags at the DNC convention that I saw.
  • Democrats fully embraced the radical left’s social engineering, turning women’s bathrooms into “All Gender Restrooms.”
  • Interim DNC chairwoman Donna Brazile tells CNN, “I want to learn what is behind all of this, because more emails are coming.” By the way, if you want some idea of what kind of campaign we should be prepared for, check out Brazile’s history.

      The Pro-Abortion Party

If anybody needs a reminder of how important this election is, consider this. Last                  night, as Michelle Obama and Bernie Sanders were speaking, Bill Clinton was seated in        the gallery. Sitting next to him was Cecile Richards, the head of Planned Parenthood              and the woman most responsible for the destruction of innocent unborn children in              the United States.

That Richards was rewarded with the honored position of sitting next to the former                president and the nominee’s spouse on the opening night of the convention tells you            everything you need to know about the extreme pro-abortion views of Hillary Clinton          and her party. And they are extreme.

For example, a new Marist poll finds that:

  • 78% of Americans support restrictions on abortion that would effectively limit the procedure to the first three months of pregnancy. Hillary Clinton voted against the ban on partial-birth abortions and said that unborn babies have no rights.
  • 62% of Americans oppose taxpayer funding of abortions. Yet the Democrat Party platform is the most extreme ever, even demanding taxpayer-funding of abortions.
  • While the Supreme Court recently overturned a number of commonsense regulations passed by the state of Texas, the Marist poll finds that those regulations were overwhelmingly popular with the American people: 78% percent of Americans believe abortion clinics should meet the same standards as other surgery centers and 70% percent of Americans want doctors who perform abortions to be required to have hospital admitting privileges.

Donald Trump is promising to appoint pro-life justices to the Supreme Court, justices like Antonin Scalia. Hillary Clinton will appoint more pro-abortion radicals like Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

Here’s some good news: The pro-life activists who exposed Planned Parenthoods barbaric business practices of selling baby body parts were cleared today. The last remaining charges against David Daleiden and Sandra Merritt were dropped this morning.

Trump Gets A Bounce

The latest CNN poll finds Donald Trump earning a six point bounce from last week’s GOP convention. Trump currently leads Clinton by three points: 48% to 45%. Before the convention, Clinton led 49% to 42%.

Here are some other findings from the poll:

  1. Trump boosted his favorability rating seven points — from 39% to 46%.
  2. Going into the convention, Trump enjoyed a 21-point lead over Clinton among white voters without college degrees — the forgotten Americans he is promising to champion. Clearly, his message struck a nerve with these voters. He now leads by 39 points among this demographic.

52% believe Trump is running “for the good of the country rather than personal gain.” Only 44% say the same about Hillary.

While Trump clearly benefitted from the convention, one individual did not. According to the CNN poll, Ted Cruz’s speech “appears to have backfired. While 60% of Republican voters had a positive impression of [Ted Cruz] before the convention, just 33% have one now.”

Evangelicals & Trump

How should values voters approach the 2016 election? Last week, at the Republican National Convention, I participated in a panel discussion hosted by Politico with other leaders in the pro-family, pro-life movement about the 2016 contest and the choice before us.

It was a fascinating discussion. If you are struggling with how to cast your ballot this November, I encourage you to read the transcript of our talk. Too much is at stake to sit on the sidelines or waste your vote on candidates who can’t win.

DNC: Democratic National Chaos

As the Democratic National Convention gets underway today, chaos is breaking out in the party of Clinton and Obama. Over the weekend, hacked emails from the national party’s headquarters were posted on WikiLeaks. There were numerous shocking revelations.

For starters, the party bosses were clearly colluding with the Clinton campaign during the entire primary season, in spite of repeated denials and claims of impartiality. They were lying the whole time. The system, as Bernie Sanders so often said, really was rigged against him.

In fact, one email shows party leaders were plotting to smear Sanders as an atheist.

Democratic National Committee chairwoman Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz announced yesterday that she would resign her position at the end of this week, once the party’s convention has concluded. But shortly after news of her resignation was announced, the Clinton campaign only highlighted the collusion by naming Wasserman Schultz an honorary chairman of the campaign.

This morning, Wasserman Schultz was shouted down as she attempted to address the delegation from her home state of Florida. Meanwhile, rumors are swirling that more emails may be leaked in coming days, perhaps even some from Hillary’s private server.

By the way, last week a woman mocked RNC Chairman Reince Priebus for some of the difficulties Republicans were having at their convention. She tweeted, “Hey @Reince — I’m in Cleveland if you need another chair to help keep your convention in order.” That woman was Debbie Wasserman Schultz, who apparently is no longer welcome at her own convention.

Blaming Putin

Democrats and their media allies are attempting to blame the DNC email hack on another country. Clinton campaign manager Robbie Mook told CNN, “What’s disturbing to us is that experts are telling us Russian state actors broke into the DNC, stole these emails, and other experts are now saying that the Russians are releasing these emails for the purpose of actually helping Donald Trump.”

Just consider the chutzpah of America’s left. Does anyone notice the irony of suggesting that there is Russian interference in our election?

The Obama Administration tried to defeat the prime minister of our most reliable ally! Top Obama campaign operatives were parachuted into Tel Aviv during last year’s Israeli elections. State Department money — your tax dollars — was spent building a campaign apparatus to defeat Benjamin Netanyahu. Obama went to London and tried to browbeat British voters into opposing the Brexit vote.

But let’s examine the theory that Vladimir Putin somehow prefers Donald Trump. Why would Putin want a candidate whose main slogans are “Make America strong again” and “Make America great again”? Why would he reject the nominee of the party who won’t raise defense spending and who has appeased Putin at virtually every opportunity?

It was Hillary Clinton who famously handed the Russians a “reset” button. And every day since, Obama has been demonstrating his “flexibility.”

Obviously at Putin’s orders, Russian jets, bombers, and ships have engaged in provocative maneuvers near U.S. assets. These maneuvers have been breathtakingly dangerous. In one instance, a Russian jet conducted simulated attack runs against a U.S. destroyer. And yet there has been virtually no response except a statement condemning their unprofessionalism.

Putin invaded Ukraine, seized the Crimean peninsula and got little more than a lecture. The Russians shot down a civilian jet liner with no serious consequences. When Republicans insisted we should help the Ukrainians, Obama sent them socks.

When Obama refused to enforce his own red line against Assad in Syria, Putin stepped in and sent in troops to bolster his ally Assad. When Russia started bombing targets in Syria, they first bombed U.S.-aligned rebels before they went after ISIS.

Last month, Russia bombed a base used by U.S. and British special forces just hours after they left the base. Many experts believe the strike was a deliberate reminder that Russia controls the airspace.

Nothing To See Here

The incompetence of Western leaders has been most evident lately in Germany. The country has experienced four terrorist attacks in recent weeks, yet after every atrocity German authorities rush to deny or downplay the obvious.

Ali David Sonboly, a German-Iranian teenager, opened fired at shopping mall in Munich last week. Nine people were killed and 21 were wounded. Big media and German authorities first tried to suggest that the shooter was a right-winger.

Then police said he was mentally imbalanced, but at least he acted alone. Munich police chief Hubertus Andrae said Sonboly acted as a “classical shooter without any political motivation.”

Whoops. A day later, German police arrested a 16 year-old Afghan accomplice.

Then a Syrian refugee, wielding a machete, attacked and killed a pregnant woman and wounded two others at a bus stop. German authorities said it had nothing to do with terrorism because the attacker “has a record of getting into trouble.” What does that mean?

Then there was an explosion yesterday near an outdoor music festival in Ansbach. Authorities rushed to blame it on a natural gas leak. But then they discovered that a Syrian refugee had blown himself up after he was denied entry into the festival due to his suspicious backpack. Fifteen people were wounded by the blast.

German authorities were quoted as saying that they had not determined whether he was trying to kill others or whether he just wanted to commit suicide. The conservative news outlet Breitbart pointed out that suicidal people generally try a number of methods, but backpack bombs usually aren’t one of them. And now here’s the latest — CNN is reporting that the Ansbach bomber had in fact pledged his allegiance to ISIS.

The German government admitted several months ago that it had lost 130,000 migrants. They just found one of them.

Western leaders seem to think that their main job after every attack is to deceive us. They seem determined to make sure that their citizens do not reach the obvious conclusion that Islamic supremacists are responsible for these attacks. If they did, they might demand serious action like major immigration reforms and real border security.

“Make America Great Again”

Last night, Donald J. Trump formally accepted the Republican Party’s nomination for president of the United States. In doing so, he becomes the first major party nominee without elected political experience since General Dwight Eisenhower won the Republican nomination in 1952.

I have been to many conventions. And this one was unlike any other. The convention hall last night was electric. Trump delivered his speech in his usual extravagant style, but his message was controlled and disciplined.

The left-wing media’s reaction was predictable. “Dark.” “Vengeful.” “Extreme.” “Incendiary.” “Toxic.”

Given recent events — terrorist attacks and police assassinations — the public is in no mood for happy talk. According to a recent Gallup survey, just 17% of Americans are satisfied with the state of the country.

But here’s something to consider: An instant reaction poll by CNN found that 75% of those who watched Trump’s speech had a positive reaction to it, and 73% said the policies he outlined would move America in the right direction.

The American people want real change and real hope. The left-wing media might be happy with the direction of our nation, but most voters know we are on the wrong track. They are sick and tired of politicians and their platitudes. They want to make America great again!

Reaching Main Street, U.S.A.

I felt Trump’s address last night was an incredibly effective, populist message aimed at the great swath of Americans — the “silent majority” who work hard, play by the rules, love their country, but who have been left behind by the globalist, corporatist agenda.

Trump made it clear he was speaking to these Americans when he said:

“My message is that things have to change and they have to change right now. Every day I wake up determined to deliver a better life for the people all across this nation that had been ignored, neglected and abandoned.

“I have visited the laid-off factory workers, and the communities crushed by our horrible and unfair trade deals. These are the forgotten men and women of our country, and they are forgotten, but they will not be forgotten long. These are people who work hard but no longer have a voice. I am your voice!”

Expanding The Base

Trump also made several direct appeals to minority voters. He slammed Obama’s failure to deliver on “hope and change,” saying:

“This administration has failed America’s inner cities. Remember, it has failed America’s inner cities. It’s failed them on education. It’s failed them on jobs. It’s failed them on crime. It’s failed them in every way and on every single level.”
While some in the left-wing media are decrying his law and order message as a “racist dog whistle,” minority communities suffer the most from crime.

This is not, or should not be, a racial issue. Every American — black, white, Hispanic, Asian — wants and deserves safe streets so their kids can walk to school and play.

Trump was 100% right when said, “The most basic duty of government is to defend the lives of its citizens. Any government that fails to do so is a government unworthy to lead.”

On this point, Democrats have big problems. Portions of their coalition despise the police and our military. It took Clinton hours to issue a statement after three Baton Rouge police officers were killed. What on earth were they debating?!

Nevertheless, some of the speakers at next week’s Democrat convention indicate that Hillary and her allies are all in on the left’s anti-cop agenda. And the police union in Philadelphia is furious!

Trump also championed school choice, a popular idea with minority voters, saying, “We will rescue kids from failing schools by helping their parents send them to a safe school of their choice.”

And while his immigration message is falsely bashed as “anti-Hispanic,” Trump framed it the right way, saying:

“Decades of record immigration have produced lower wages and higher unemployment for our citizens, especially for African-American and Latino workers. We are going to have an immigration system that works, but one that works for the American people.”

Speaking To Values Voters

Of particular interest to values voters, Trump clearly reiterated the kind of judges he would appoint. He said:

“We are also going to appoint justices to the United States Supreme Court who will uphold our laws and our Constitution. The replacement of our beloved Justice Scalia will be a person of similar views, principles and judicial philosophies. Very important. This will be one of the most important issues decided by this election.”
Again, he is absolutely right!

That issue alone — control of the Supreme Court and everything that entails for religious liberty, the sanctity of life, the Second Amendment, separation of powers — should have every conservative rushing to the polls on November 8th to vote for the only candidate who can keep Hillary Clinton out of the Oval Office.

And that candidate is Donald Trump!

Trump pointedly thanked evangelicals for their “amazing support.” To my surprise, he added, “And I’m not sure I totally deserve it.” To me, those remarks demonstrated some welcome humility. And there was more.

Trump brought up the 1954 IRS amendment, passed by then-Senator Lyndon Johnson, that muzzled the ability of pastors to speak freely from the pulpit. This isn’t the first time Trump has raised this issue, which, frankly, too few of our friends in Congress ever talk about. Trump is making it a real cause and seems to feel strongly about it.

Of course, values voters care deeply about life and religious liberty. These issues will be decided by the judges he appoints, and he is trying to expand religious liberty by overturning that amendment.

But values voters also love America, support the rule of law and are very patriotic people. They dislike globalism and the trend toward international law overriding our Constitution.

Many evangelical churches often pray for our soldiers and our men and women in law enforcement. Some have special services devoted to our men and women in uniform. We do that in our church.

Trump is hitting a lot of themes that resonate with values voters — an important part of the electorate, especially within the GOP coalition.

Lastly, I would point out that actions speak louder than words. And that is why I was so encouraged — and believe every conservative voter should be as well — by his selection of Indiana Governor Mike Pence, a solid, articulate, pro-family, pro-life conservative Christian, to be his running mate.

Pence’s Outstanding Performance

Indiana Governor Mike Pence took the stage last night for what to date was the biggest moment of his political life. Few people are ever asked to make such an important speech — accepting their party’s nomination for vice president of the United States.

Coming on the heels of the remarks by Senator Ted Cruz, which I will address in a moment, the stakes were exponentially greater. The mood of the convention hall was radically different when Pence spoke than it had been just an hour before.

Thankfully, Mike Pence rose to the occasion. He delivered an outstanding performance, validating all the reasons why Donald Trump selected him to be his running mate. Here are a few highlights of his remarks:

“Hillary Clinton essentially offers a third Obama term. And the role is perfect for her. She championed ‘Obamacare’ because years earlier she had all but invented it. The national debt has nearly doubled in these eight years and her only answer is to keep borrowing and spending. . . Now, they tell us this economy is the best that we can do. It’s nowhere near the best that we could do, it’s just the best that they can do. . .

“At the very moment when America is crying out for something new and different, the other party has answered with a stale agenda and the most predictable of names. People in both parties are restless for change. . . And Democrats are about to anoint someone who represents everything this country is tired of.

“You know, Hillary Clinton wants a better title and I would, too, if I was already America’s secretary of the status quo. . .

“As this election approaches, every American should know that while we’re filling the presidency for the next four years, this election will define the Supreme Court for the next 40.

“We all better think very carefully — very carefully — about what this means for our Constitution and limited government. Elect Hillary Clinton and you better get used to being subject to unelected judges using unaccountable power to take unconstitutional actions.

“So let me say, for the sake of the rule of law, for the sake of the sanctity of life, for the sake of our Second Amendment and for the sake of all our other God-given liberties, we must ensure that the next president appointing justices to the Supreme Court is Donald Trump.”
Mike Pence did what Senator Cruz sadly failed to do. He melded Reagan conservatism with economic populism, which is where the new energy is in today’s Republican Party. If this effort succeeds, we will see Donald Trump and Mike Pence sworn into office six months from now.

If it fails, Hillary Clinton will become president, and I believe we will see the end of the country we love.

Beyond the traditional set of values issues — the sanctity of life, marriage and religious liberty — the left is pressing us on so many fronts — global warming, massive regulations, terrible economic policies, unconstitutional executive orders, assaults on the Second Amendment. Any thought of regaining control in four years is a pipe dream!

Four more years of this left-wing radicalism and it won’t matter. Hillary is already signaling her intentions to grant a massive amnesty beyond Obama’s wildest dreams and bring in 500% more Syrian refugees than Obama.

Cruz Bombs Convention

I was on the convention floor last night. I have only been here a few days, but it feels like weeks! There was a lot of healing taking place — until last night, when a wound was reopened. The headlines this morning were unanimous — unanimously bad.

All week, the process of bringing together the newly empowered populist wing of the Republican Party with traditional Reagan conservatives was step-by-step falling into place. Delegates pledged to Trump were bonding with delegates pledged to Cruz, Kasich and Rubio. Polling has been showing that the Trump/Pence ticket was gaining strength and momentum.

Donald Trump graciously reached out to Senator Cruz and offered him a prime time speaking slot, even though the senator initially declined to tell the Trump campaign what he intended to say. Even up until the last minute, senior aides were encouraging the senator to endorse his party’s nominee.

The content of Cruz’s speech was 98% good. But that two percent — what was said and unsaid — was devastating. Not only did he fail to endorse Trump, the phrase “vote your conscience” was interpreted by many as a call to not support the nominee. It didn’t take long for the Clinton campaign to seize on Cruz’s comment.

The mood of the convention, which had been building toward unity, quickly turned to anger. Boos erupted from the convention floor when it was clear Cruz wasn’t going to endorse.

I enthusiastically endorsed Ted Cruz for the Republican presidential nomination. I have admired and appreciated how he has fought for conservative values. Sadly, his performance last night fit into an unflattering narrative of the senator.

I have to wonder: If Cruz or Kasich had won the nomination, would they have allowed Donald Trump to speak at their convention if he refused to endorse them?

The fallout from Sen. Cruz’s speech was immediate. As Cruz made his way through the convention hall after his speech, one state GOP chairman was so furious with Cruz, he had to berestrained. His own campaign chairman from Virginia told a reporter that he was “very, very disappointed in him.”

Sarah Palin, who backed his insurgent Senate primary bid in 2012, wrote, “Cruz’s broken pledge to support the will of the people tonight was one of those career-ending ‘read my lips’ moments.”

Phil Robertson, patriarch of the Duck Dynasty clan who also endorsed Cruz, said this morning, “I mean, give me a break, Ted, go ahead and endorse [Donald Trump]. You lost, he won.”

The senator also got an earful from his fellow Texans at a delegation breakfast this morning. One of the delegates said rhetorically, “Do you realize that you can unite this party like no one in this party?”

Senator Cruz spoke eloquently last night about uniting “behind shared values” and casting “aside anger for love. That is the standard we should expect from everybody.”

Unfortunately, when the eyes of the nation were on him, I felt Sen. Cruz fell short of meeting his own standard. He missed a great opportunity last night to heal wounds and unite the Republican Party.

That was not how Ronald Reagan handled a similar situation in 1976.

For what it’s worth, Senator Cruz did tell members of the Texas delegation this morning that he would not be attacking Trump and would be “watching and listening” to Trump’s speech tonight. Perhaps he will hear something he likes and will get on board sooner rather than later.

Tonight Donald Trump has a chance to demonstrate his qualities and to rise above it all. This is a good time to be praying for our country.
