Multiple media outlets are reporting that Donald Trump has secured the backing of the required number of GOP delegates to make him the 2016 Republican presidential nominee.

The Associated Press has reportedly been conducting interviews with uncommitted or unbound delegates. Their discussions revealed that a sufficient number of them planned to support Trump, enough for him to win at least 1,239 votes on the first ballot — two more than the necessary majority of 1,237.

The States vs. Obama

Once again a coalition of states is going into federal court seeking to roll back yet another outrageous abuse of executive power by the Obama Administration. From Obamacare to environmental regulation, this is becoming a routine event.

The issue in this case is Obama’s bizarre redefinition of bathroom policies. Alabama, Arizona, Georgia, Louisiana, Maine, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Utah, West Virginia, and Wisconsin joined the state of Texas in seeking an injunction against Obama’s order.

The lawsuit accuses the administration of turning “workplace and educational settings across the country into laboratories for a massive social experiment, flouting the democratic process, and running roughshod over commonsense policies protecting children and basic privacy rights.”

The states presented numerous arguments against the Obama Administration, ranging from broad constitutional issues, such as violations of the 10th Amendment and the separation of powers, to violations of specific laws.

They may have the most success, at least initially, on this last point. The Administrative Procedure Act requires the government to submit significant new regulations to a public notice-and-comment period. The Obama Administration did not do that. Undoubtedly, the bureaucrats feared the deluge of comments they would get in response.

It was also that very point that torpedoed Obama’s executive amnesty orders.

Hillary Getting Hammered

Yesterday we told you about the State Department inspector general’s report that concluded Hillary Clinton violated the Federal Records Act. Today, Hillary is getting hammered in the media. Consider these headlines:

  • “State Department Watchdog Rebukes Clinton Over Email”Washington Post
  • “Clinton Violated Polices On Email”Wall Street Journal
  • “E-Nailed: Feds Rip Hill For Hiding, Lying, Dodging”New York Post

In addition, the Washington Post’s editorial board blasted Clinton for her “inexcusable, willful disregard for the rules.” Just imagine what we’d get if she becomes president!

Speaking on MSNBC this morning, Clinton apologist Andrea Mitchell said this:

“She violated the official records act according to her own State Department IG appointed by President Obama . . . it completely undercuts the argument she’s been making for more than a year just as she’s trying to persuade voters she’s not untrustworthy. . .

“There are so many flaws in their argument. . . I don’t see how this is anything but devastating given the fact they have been making a completely different argument now for more than a year.”
It will be interesting to see how this plays out politically. A new poll in California shows Clinton and Sanders are running neck-and-neck — 46% to 44%. Of course, the poll was conducted before yesterday’s “devastating” news.

    The Dead Are Voting

Perhaps it is a sign of the zombie apocalypse, but I suspect something far more sinister. The dead are voting.

Kudos to the Los Angeles CBS affiliate for doing some outstanding investigative journalism. Their research found hundreds of voters were still casting ballots years after they had passed away.

In one case a man who died in 2003 voted in 2004, 2005, 2006, 2008 and 2010. One woman who died in 1998 was still voting in 2014!

Liberals dismiss popular voter ID laws as discriminatory and “solutions in search of a problem.” Well, don’t let anyone tell you that voter fraud isn’t a serious issue. If the dead are voting, we’ve got big problems.

Are you registered to vote? How about your friends and family members? You can’t vote unless you are registered. Register today.

    Bad News For Millennials

Millennials, who fell so hard for the hype about hope and change, continue to suffer under the Obama economy. A new survey by the Pew Research Center finds that the most common living arrangements for young adults is . . . living at home with mom and dad.

I suspect many of the young men and women surveyed are still living in their parent’s basement, right where they were four years ago. Sadly, the only change for them was to pull down their Obama posters and put up their Bernie posters.

But here’s some good economic news. A business in Michigan has posted a sign reading, “Now Hiring Class of 2016.” Whoops. Nevermind. It’s a strip club looking to hire girls straight out of high school.

Then again, I suppose they don’t really have to be girls. I hope the owner realizes the legal risks he may be taking given the Obama Administration’s evolving views of gender identity.

    72 What?!

Radical Islam’s war against Western Civilization may be coming to an abrupt end. And if it does, we can all thank CNN’s Fareed Zakariah.

Over the weekend, Zakariah hosted a special entitled “Why They Hate Us,” in which he interviewed Islamic scholar Irshad Manji. According to Manji, the idea that the Koran promises jihadi martyrs 72 virgins is all wrong:

“The word for virgin has been mistranslated. The original word that was used in the Koran was the word for raisin. Martyrs would get raisins in heaven, not virgins.”
When this news spreads throughout the Islamic world, I suspect many jihadis will drop their guns, rip off their bomb vests and go home.

All joking aside, I can’t believe 15 years after 9/11, Zakariah is still asking why they hate us. And I also have trouble believing that western progressives understand Islam better than the Islamists. Perhaps Barack Obama can ask his pen pal Ayatollah Khamenei to translate for us.

At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter whether they are fighting over raisins or virgins. What matters is whether we can muster the political will to defeat them before they defeat us.

BREAKING NEWS: Crooked Hillary Broke The Law!

Okay, so maybe that’s not really news. But at least a government agency is finally admitting it.

The State Department inspector general’s office has reportedly concluded that Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server violated the Federal Records Act.

This is not an insignificant finding. The Justice Department appears to take the issue seriously, at least enough to have a page devoted to the Federal Records Act on its website, including a section about criminal and civil penalties for various violations.

Whether the Justice Department cares enough to actually enforce the law in this particular case is a completely different matter.

Columnist Dennis Prager is a solid, intellectual, pro-Israel conservative whose work is regularly published in conservative journals across America. I am proud to call him a friend.

Yesterday, Prager wrote that while he deeply admires and has worked with many people in the #NeverTrump movement, they have failed to address the reality confronting America. Consider these excerpts:

“Take the ‘conscience’ argument that one can sleep with a clear conscience by not voting for Trump. I don’t find it compelling because it means that your conscience is clear after making it possible for Clinton or any other Democrat to win. . .

“It seems to me that the #NeverTrump conservatives want to remain morally pure. I understand that temptation. . . But if you wish to vanquish the bad, it is not possible — at least not on this side of the afterlife — to remain pure. . .

“In the 2016 presidential race, I am not interested in moral purity. I am interested in defeating the left and its party, the Democratic Party. The notion . . . that we can live with another four years of a Democratic president is, forgive me, mind-boggling. To that end, with at least one, and probably multiple, additional leftists on the Supreme Court, a Republican presidential victory in 2020 would mean little.

“All the left needs is the judicial branch, especially the Supreme Court. Left-wing judges pass so many left-wing laws that they render those who control Congress, and even the White House, almost irrelevant. . .

“For these reasons, I . . . could not live with my conscience if I voted to help the America-destroying left win the presidency in any way. I just don’t understand how anyone who understands the threat the left and the Democrats pose on America will refuse to vote for the only person who can stop them.”
By the way, former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum has endorsed Trump after “a long heart-to-heart.”

Mexican Flag Flies In New Mexico

Donald Trump held a rally in New Mexico yesterday and left-wing demonstrators showed up and started a riot. They harassed Trump supporters, attacked police and waved Mexican flags.

Whether they realize it or not, the rioters are proving the conservative point.

If you want to argue that a particular candidate is undermining American values, engaging in violence at a political event — attacking free speech — is the wrong way to make the point.

When left-wing demonstrators wave the flag of a foreign nation, in some cases the flag of the country they left, they are making the point that some people are coming here not out of a great love of America, but with a desire to turn America into something else.

Most Americans don’t want our country to be like Mexico. There is a reason so many Mexicans are trying to escape that country.

By the way, there is a lot of winking going on from the left. Last night, “MSDNC” host Chris Matthews dismissed the riot as “low-key violence.” When an Albuquerque police officer pushed back, Matthews said, “Well, I don’t see anybody with a face bloodied yet, or I don’t see any danger to anybody yet.”

There was plenty of danger. According to one witness, “rocks were flying through the convention center windows” as people attempted to leave the event. Police reported that several officers were hit. At least one person was arrested.

Seriously? Just a few arrests? If it turns out that officers were ordered to stand down in the face of such violence, the person who gave that order should be fired!

Jim Geraghty at National Review chides the media, writing, “When do violent anti-Trump protesters turn into a major story? No, really, media, you have to start asking questions about the atmosphere of violence and fascism that is cultivated by . . . anti-Trump protesters.”

One protestor was holding a sign that read, “F*** Trump, Free El Chapo.” Expletives aside, why does the left have such affinity for terrorists and drug lords? Just the other day, Bernie Sanders promised to pardon a convicted terrorist.

Clinton’s Dishonest Attack

The Clinton campaign released a new attack ad against Trump yesterday, accusing him of cheering the housing collapse in order to buy property inexpensively. This was a coordinated assault with Clinton surrogates in key states also making the charge that Trump profited from others’ suffering.

Trump’s response was unapologetic. That is what any smart business owner does — you buy assets when the price falls.

No one should mistake what Clinton and her allies are trying to do here. They are trying to turn Donald Trump into Mitt Romney, who they successfully branded as a “vulture capitalist.”

But it is a very dishonest attack. As Bernie Sanders has pointed out, Hillary didn’t have any moral dilemmas about accepting millions of dollars from Wall Street bankers who were bailed out by the taxpayers.

Leading Clinton’s charge was Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren. But there’s just one problem: Warren has also bought distressed properties and flipped them for profit.

And let’s not miss the bigger picture here. If Clinton and Warren want to talk about the housing collapse, let’s talk about the role big government and left-wing policies played in creating that crisis.

Why did the housing market collapse? At least in part due to left-wing pressure that forced banks to make risky loans.

Clinton, Islam & Women

I really like an issue Donald Trump is using to attack Hillary Clinton because I have repeatedly raised this issue before. On Sunday, Trump tweeted, “How can Crooked Hillary say she cares about women when she is silent on radical Islam, which horribly oppresses women?”

Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and the left claim to be pro-women and insist that Republicans are anti-women. I don’t see how progressives can claim to be pro-women when they are trying to force your 12 year-old daughter to shower next to a boy who claims to be a girl. But let’s put that aside for now.

The left, led by Obama and Hillary, wants to bring more Muslims from developing countries into the United States. As we have seen in Europe, many Muslim men bring with them barbaric attitudes toward women.

Infamously on New Year’s Eve, there were molestations and rapes by Muslim men in major German cities, the most notable being Cologne.

What was the reaction of the political left in Europe and the European media? They tried to cover up the attacks because they feared it might undermine their pro-immigration, open borders agenda. In the U.S., Obama, Clinton and Sanders were basically silent.

In many Muslim countries, Muslim women are second-class citizens, and subjected to absurdities like wearing the full burka and not being allowed to drive a car. It gets worse.

Many imams teach that what few restrictions apply to the treatment of Muslim women do not apply to infidel women. So the Muslim man who rapes a woman or attempts to molest a young girl has committed no sin in the eyes of Allah as long as the victim is an infidel or a non-Muslim.

For years we have been saying that American progressivism is full of contradictions. For example, the left says it is in favor of the working man, but then it attacks the energy industry that employs many working families.

Most of these contradictions are rarely exploited by candidates like Romney and McCain. At least Trump is showing every indication that he is willing to expose the left’s glaring contradictions, which should make for one heck of a campaign!

Sanders Targets Israel

Hillary Clinton, desperate to satisfy Vermont socialist Bernie Sanders and his legions of supporters, is evidently prepared to sacrifice Israel in the process.

The Washington Post reports that Sanders “was given unprecedented say over the Democratic Party platform Monday.” Hillary Clinton is naming six members to the platform committee and Sanders is being allowed to name five members.

The Post notes, “Sanders immediately used his new power to name a well-known advocate for Palestinian rights to help draft Democratic policy.”

In addition to radical, anti-Israel activist Cornel West and Muslim Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN), Sanders also named James Zogby, president of the Arab American Institute, to the platform committee. Zogby recently lashed out at Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, accusing him of “shameful behavior” and “malevolent rule.”

This could get really interesting. Don’t forget that delegates to the Democrats’ national convention in 2012 erupted in a chorus of boos when the party attempted to put God and Jerusalem back in the platform after they had been stripped out in committee.

VA Hospitals & The Dumbo Ride

That’s a headline you don’t see very often and with good reason. No one would confuse the two — except a high-ranking Obama official.

Veterans Affairs Secretary Robert McDonald was talking to reporters yesterday and attempted to explain the ongoing problems our veterans are confronting with long wait times for treatment. Here’s what McDonald said:

“When you got to Disney, do they measure the number of hours you wait in line? Or what’s important? What’s important is, what’s your satisfaction with the experience? And what I would like to move to, eventually, is that kind of measure.”
I don’t know what Secretary McDonald was thinking. That comparison just falls apart at every level.

I don’t think there is one veteran who would compare a trip to the VA clinic to waiting in line for a ride at Disney World. When you go to Disney, you’re not waiting in line for cancer treatment or surgery. Waiting in Disney’s lines is not a matter of life and death.

Sadly, and inexcusably, the VA continues to be a scandal-plagued department years after the first shocking reports of corruption and incompetence made headlines. McDonald was brought in to clean up this mess, but he is clearly not up to the task. McDonald should be fired.

Big Government Is Broken

Government reform has to be a major issue in this campaign. In the past few days, there has been a confluence of events signaling the corruption and complete incompetence of big government under Barack Obama.

Yesterday, I reported that a judge had ordered “deceptive” Justice Department lawyers to take ethics classes. I think they will need a full, four-year program.

The head of the VA has failed to improve conditions, just grossly insulted our veterans and is refusing to apologize.

Here’s more:

  • A top TSA official, who received $90,000 in bonuses in a 13-month period, was removed from his job yesterday. How on earth did he qualify for these bonuses? Have you been to an airport lately? The TSA has routinely failed security inspections. In fact, a senior TSA official was sacked last year, too!
  • According to a recent inspector general’s report, “The IRS estimates that 23.8 percent ($15.6 billion) of Earned Income Tax Credit payments were issued improperly in Fiscal Year 2015.” So the government admits that more than $15 billion in refunds went to criminals and illegal immigrants exploiting the system, yet it refuses to do anything about it.

    Planned Parenthood Evacuated

A Planned Parenthood facility in Sarasota, Florida, was evacuated yesterday by hazmat teams responding to an emergency call. Apparently there was some improperly stored cleaning supplies and during their removal, a powdery substance got spilled causing a panic among the workers. A nearby school was also put on lockdown.

According to police, the powdery substance turned out be . . . baby food. Apparently none of the workers had ever seen rice cereal before. Don’t worry — everything is okay. No one at the clinic ended up being in any danger except for the babies aborted there when business resumed this morning.

Third Party Revisited

Two major media polls measuring the state of the 2016 presidential contest were released over the past 24 hours. Both show a very tight race: In one poll, Donald Trump leads by two points, while Hillary Clinton leads by three points in the other poll.

Buried in the Washington Post poll was this factoid, which we have been worried about for weeks: In a three-way race, Hillary wins. The Post tested a general election match-up with Romney in the race and found that Clinton wins with just 37%, while Trump gets 35% and Romney gets 22%.

So 57% of Americans would vote for a populist conservative and a right-of-center Republican. But the result is that Hillary Clinton would become president of the United States with just over a third of the vote.

By the way, as there has been in virtually every modern election, there will be a third party on the ballot — the Libertarian Party. Former New Mexico Governor Gary Johnson is running to be the nominee of the Libertarian Party, and has selected former Massachusetts Governor William Weld to be his running mate.

If you are a Christian conservative uncomfortable with Trump on character issues and considering Johnson, maybe this little vignette will interest you.

Last year, I was in New York City at the Fox News studios waiting to appear on John Stossel’s show. Gary Johnson was also waiting in the green room and talking about same-sex marriage with another libertarian.

At one point in their conversation they cited a critic of same-sex marriage who raised the slippery slope argument and rhetorically asked how society could deny a father the right to marry his adult daughter. Johnson replied that he would not deny him that right. “They’re adults. What business is that of mine?” he replied.

Importing Disease

Since the Obama Administration announced plans to bring in 10,000 Syrian refugees, who cannot be thoroughly vetted according to top security officials, more than a dozen of the nation’s governors have attempted to withdraw from the refugee resettlement program.

Indiana Governor Mike Pence was among those who courageously fought the administration. As usual, Obama ignored their concerns, and now we’re seeing some of the fallout.

Radical Islam aside, it used to be national policy to prevent the importation of infectious diseases. But the federal government is clearly failing in its obligations to medically screen refugees. Four refugees with active, infectious tuberculosis (TB) were resettled last year in Indiana. In addition, there are reports that 20% of refugees resettled in Minnesota have tested positive for TB.

The medical expenses associated with treating TB are a serious strain on local budgets. According to the Minneapolis Star Tribune, “The cost of treating an active TB case that is susceptible or responsive to drugs averages $17,000, according to the CDC. Care of patients with drug-resistant TB . . . costs many times more: $134,000 for a multidrug-resistant patient and $430,000 for an extensively drug-resistant one.”

Medical experts in and out of government are sounding the alarm about the breakdown of our screening procedures. “Admitting people who might cause an epidemic makes no sense whatsoever from a public health standpoint,” Dr. Jane Orient, executive director of the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons, said. “Officials who place politics above the health of Americans need to be held accountable and removed from positions of authority.”

Thankfully sanitariums are a thing of the past. But the ideologically-driven carelessness of the Obama Administration may have us headed there again.

Protecting Our Children

Opposition to Obama’s radical agenda of allowing children to choose which bathrooms and locker rooms they want to use is growing. Here’s the latest:

  • Nearly 100 Pennsylvania state legislators sent a letter to the White House telling the president that his order was an “unconstitutional intrusion” that “sacrifices the fundamental privacy rights . . . [of] millions of school students.”
  • The nation’s Catholic bishops condemned the order as “deeply disturbing.”
  • State senators in Tennessee are urging Governor Bill Haslam to sue the Obama Administration.
  • A resolution has been filed in the Oklahoma legislature calling for Obama’s impeachment.
  • Twenty-five senators — all Republicans — told the administration that its policy was “inappropriate” and that states and school districts were free to set their own bathroom policies.
  • Rep. Steve King is calling for civil disobedience if necessary.

Meanwhile, we are doing our part to keep the pressure on. This morning, we issued a press release alerting the national media to our letter to Speaker Ryan and Senate Majority Leader McConnell demanding action from Congress on this critical issue.

I am pleased to report that legislation has been introduced in the House by Rep. Luke Messer (R-IN), who has been endorsed by CWF. Messer’s bill would preserve the authority of local schools to set their own bathroom and locker room policies. We are still waiting for similar legislation to be introduced in the Senate.

    We will keep you posted.

    Obama’s Dishonest Department

The Obama Administration got a major reprimand late last week, but I doubt you heard about it on the evening news.

Federal Judge Andrew Hanen accused the administration of executing a “calculated plan of unethical conduct” in its handling of immigration regulations, adding that “The misconduct in this case was intentional, serious and material.”

As you may know, the regulations Hanen referred to are currently being challenged at the Supreme Court by more than two dozen states.

Concerned about an apparent “lack of knowledge” and “adherence to the duties of professional responsibility in the halls of the Justice Department,” Judge Hanen ordered Justice Department lawyers involved in the immigration case to attend ethics classes.

Judge Hanen also ordered Attorney General Loretta Lynch to come up with a “comprehensive plan” to “prevent this unethical conduct from ever occurring again” within 60 days.

Sadly, the misconduct Judge Hanen experienced isn’t isolated to the Justice Department. It appears to be pervasive throughout the entire Obama Administration. Government bureaucrats from the EPA, IRS, VA, State Department, Secret Service . . . fill in the blank . . . could benefit from ethics classes!

Misguided Elites

9/11. The D.C. sniper. Fort Hood. The Boston Marathon bombing. The Oklahoma City beheading. San Bernardino.

Those are just a few examples of terrorist attacks carried out in America by Islamic extremists. Sadly, we can expect more death and suffering in the long battle ahead.

James Clapper, the director of National Intelligence, recently told CNN that ISIS can carry out Paris and Brussels-style attacks in the United States. “They do have that capacity,” Clapper said. “That’s something we worry about a lot in the United States, that they could conjure up a raid like they did in Paris or Brussels.”

It should be obvious that we have a problem with radical Islamic terrorism, and we have not yet figured out how to screen out the murderous extremists. Under these conditions, it only makes sense to consider a pause in Muslim immigration.

Yet that common sense approach to a growing security threat continues to be a huge stumbling block for the left-wing media and the left in general. Sadly, even a shocking number of leaders on the right continue to rule out a pause as “un-American.”

Here’s one example. The late Senator Bob Bennett of Utah, practically on his death bed, reportedly made a point of going around to every Muslim he could find in his hospital to apologize for Republican voters embracing Donald Trump and his idea of pausing Muslim immigration.

Quite frankly, I would feel better if I saw more American Muslims apologizing for the death and destruction being committed by their co-religionists!

Fighting Back

You asked for it, so we did it!

Last week, I offered a number of suggestions for Congress to fight back against the Obama Administration’s outrageous “guidance” letter ordering public schools to allow boys who claim to be girls to use the girls’ bathrooms. We received an avalanche of positive feedback urging us to communicate that message with our elected leaders in Congress.

So today, I am pleased to report that we, along with dozens of conservative leaders, sent a letter to Speaker Paul Ryan and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell demanding that they:

  • Denounce Obama’s order;
  • Stand with schools and families that are resisting it;
  • Hold public hearings forcing administration officials to explain this policy;
  • Draft legislation clarifying that Washington bureaucrats have no authority to dictate local bathroom policies; and
  • Vote on this legislation so that the American people know where their representatives stand.

Read our letter here. I promise you, we will do everything we can to fight back in defense of our values!

    The Intolerant Left

Ryan Bomberger is a brave man. He recently went to Harvard to point out the terrible fact that more black babies in New York City are aborted than born. That is the legacy of Planned Parenthood founder, Margaret Sanger, a eugenicist who wanted to limit reproduction among what she called “the lower classes.”

This is a subject that reasonable, intelligent people should be able to discuss, especially given that Planned Parenthood concentrates its facilities in minority communities. But instead of a rational discussion, Bomberger was shouted down, called the most disgusting names and was even accused of being a racist, a bizarre charge to make against a black man defending black babies.

His experience [WARNING: GRAPHIC LANGUAGE] is another shocking example of the growing intolerance and bigotry that is so rampant on America’s college campuses — places that should be havens for free speech and free thought.

It is amazing how the left, which bases so much of its bizarre agenda on demands for tolerance, is increasingly incapable of demonstrating any tolerance for opposing points of view.

    Kudos To Heaton

There aren’t many pro-lifers in Hollywood. So I applaud actress Patricia Heaton for her outspoken defense of life and religious liberty.

After the Supreme Court issued its order protecting the Little Sisters of the Poor from Obamacare’s contraception mandate, Heaton tweeted, “Glad #SCOTUS vacated previous ruling against Little Sisters. I guess it dawned on them who the nuns’ boss is!”

Ugly Attacks On A Good Man

In recent days there has been a brutal attack leveled against well-known conservative leader and intellectual Bill Kristol. Bill has been in the cauldron of the Washington battle for many years. He has crossed swords with the left’s best attack dogs and regularly defeated them. But this attack comes not from the left but from some on the right, and the level of vitriol hurled at Bill has crossed the line of civil discourse.

The context of the attack revolves around Bill’s well-publicized attempts to give voters who are mortified about choosing between Hillary and Trump for president a third party option. I disagree with this strategy because I believe it will lead to a Hillary Clinton presidency that would continue Barack Obama’s disastrous policies.

Bill fears a Trump presidency has its own risks to our country and could do lasting damage to the conservative movement. He is particularly concerned about the erratic foreign policy views that Trump has expressed and his inclination to say kind things about the world’s “strong men,” including Russia’s Vladimir Putin.

This is a serious disagreement in the conservative movement. I hope it is resolved eventually by conservatives of all stripes uniting to defeat Hillary Clinton.

But its seriousness does not excuse the level of personal attacks launched at Bill in essays on various conservative media websites. One of the worst was by David Horowitz, who called Bill a “renegade Jew.” Other attacks questioned his Jewish faith, his conservative credentials and his loyalty to our country.

The Kristol and Bauer families have been friends for 30 years. Bill and I have been in many battles with the left over that time. His role in helping to build the conservative movement cannot be overstated.

In the battles between the “Reaganauts” and the moderates during the Reagan presidency, Bill was always with the Reagan loyalists. When Hillary Clinton tried to give us “Hillarycare,” the precursor to Obamacare, it was Bill’s daily memos to Congress and key political figures that dissected the plan and inspired Republicans in Congress to defeat it.

When Clarence Thomas was nominated to the Supreme Court it was Bill who convinced me that I should launch an outside effort to defend Thomas against the left-wing “lynch mob,” which we did successfully.

In the last seven years it has been Bill, in the pages of The Weekly Standard, who has regularly insisted that the GOP do more to stop Obama’s reckless, damaging, anti-constitutional policies.

On a personal level it is infuriating to watch some of Bill’s detractors questioning his Jewish faith. Bill does not need me to defend his faith, but I will do it anyway.

My family and I have been blessed to attend Kristol family weddings, bat mitzvahs and bar mitzvahs. We have mourned together at funerals of family and friends. We have often talked, always with mutual respect, about our strong Christian and Jewish faiths. The Kristols are leaders at their synagogue.

Bill has regularly spoken out against anti-Semitism and has worked tirelessly to strengthen our national defense and preserve the U.S./Israel alliance. He has also spoken strongly in defense of Christians facing persecution, and in favor of religious liberty when many others in the conservative movement were silent.

He has been an advocate for our veterans and has helped many of them enter the political arena. I could go on, but Bill’s record of achievement for conservative ideas needs no defense.

Disagreeing with Bill over the third party option is fair and appropriate. And we have argued about it. But utilizing disgusting pejorative language about a man’s faith is neither fair nor appropriate.

At a time of such peril to our country at home and abroad, it would be wise for conservatives of all stripes to conduct our disagreements with respect and restraint instead of with the vitriol most often associated with the left.

In the meantime, when the dust settles, and long after some of his critics have moved on, Bill Kristol will continue to deploy his sizeable talents into preserving and defending America and Israel as the two irreplaceable pillars of Judeo/Christian civilization.

Terror In The Sky

We don’t know yet what brought down EgyptAir Flight MS804, killing all 66 people on board. But wreckage from the plane has reportedly been located and perhaps we will know more in the days ahead.

What we do know is that the plane took off from Paris, where scores of airport workers recently had their security passes revoked. Investigations following the Paris attacks uncovered nearly 70 radical Islamists who were working at the Orly and Charles de Gaulle airports.

Trump Takes The Lead

Two polls were released this morning showing Donald Trump taking the lead in general election match-ups against Hillary Clinton.

A Fox News poll found Trump leading by three points — 45% to 42%. That’s within the poll’s margin of error, so they are essentially tied. But a month ago, Clinton led 48% to 41%, so there has apparently been some movement in Trump’s direction.

A new Rasmussen poll finds Trump leading Clinton by five points — 42% to 37%. A Rasmussen poll from late April had Trump and Clinton tied at 38%. So, again, Trump appears to have momentum, while Clinton has stalled.

Trump Goes There

During an interview with Sean Hannity last night, Donald Trump demonstrated why he emerged victorious against one of the strongest fields of candidates the GOP has seen in decades.

Hannity and Trump were discussing the latest hit piece from the New York Times. It fell apart almost immediately and has since been completely debunked. Here is part of their exchange:

HANNITY: What about what Clinton has done? How big an issue should that be in the campaign? For example, I looked at the New York Times. Are they going to interview Juanita Broderick? . . . Paula Jones? . . . Kathleen Willey? In one case, it’s about exposure. In another case, it’s about groping and fondling and touching against a woman’s will.

TRUMP: And rape.
Trump went on to note the “big settlements” against Clinton, his impeachment, not for sex but perjury, and losing his law license as a result.

This is how you fight the left! If Hillary and her left-wing allies want to talk about the “war on women,” then we’re going to talk about Bill Clinton, a one-man war on women!

Seriously, my friends, does anyone believe that other possible GOP nominees would have reminded the American people about the sordid history of Bill and Hillary?

Remember the cattle futures? How about Whitewater and Filegate? The list goes on. And who knows what went on at the Clinton Foundation. They’re not a political family, they are more like a crime family!

We MUST NOT let Bill and Hillary get back into the White House! And no matter happens in the presidential race, we MUST NOT allow their left-wing allies to take control of Congress!

Iran is now demanding reparations from the United States. The Iranian parliament yesterday voted 174-to-7 in favor of legislation seeking compensation for “spiritual and material damage” caused by U.S. policies over the past 63 years.

According to Majid Ansari, Iran’s vice president for Parliamentary Affairs, Iranian courts have issued judgments of at least $50 billion against the United States.

This may seem laughable at first, but why wouldn’t Iran make such a demand?

The Iranians watched as Obama made one concession after another during the nuclear negotiations. It has seen the administration cover up what was done to our sailors.

They watched as Secretary of State Kerry went to Europe to browbeat banks into investing in Iran. They have seen the administration retreat from its threats to punish Iran’s ballistic missile tests.

Why not ask for reparations? At this point Iran may as well demand our surrender. They might get it.

Target Tanks

Target reported quarterly earnings today in what is admittedly a challenging retail environment. But, coincidentally or not, just as men started flying into ladies changing rooms at Target stores, profits started flying out the window. The company’s stock has fallen significantly in the past month.

I’m not suggesting a causal effect, but I doubt Target’s progressive social policies have won any new customers. Talk about niche markets — how many transgender shoppers are there? Clearly it has cost them an unidentified number of previous customers.

In order to deal with the situation, Target will likely fire employees instead of rethinking how much of an unwelcoming atmosphere it has created for women and young girls who previously shopped there.

Peak Insanity? Not Yet

Just when you think we have reached peak insanity, it gets worse. The New York City Commission on Human Rights is now proposing to fine individuals and businesses who do not use the preferred pronouns of some “gender non-conforming people.”

Evidently, some gender non-conformists prefer to use pronouns such as “ze” and “hir.” Seriously. I’m really not making this gibberish up.

As one law professor notes, the government is now trying to force us “to say what they want us to say, whether or not we want to endorse the political message associated with that term, and whether or not we think it’s a lie.”

Like Big Government? Try Flying

Any voter who still thinks big government works should go to any major U.S. airport in the country. As you have probably heard, our airports have turned into make-shift homeless shelters for stranded passengers.

Passengers are sleeping in terminals because the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has been caught flatfooted by the fact that air traffic goes up in the spring and summer. Lines at O’Hare have been two to three hours long. Reagan National Airport here in Washington, D.C., is experiencing long delays.

It has been fifteen years since 9/11 and I don’t recall a comparable period of time when security reviews clogged up the system because of a failure to manage manpower.

Obama has railed against the airline industry for baggage policies, sitting on runways too long without letting passengers get off, too many late flights, etc. As we know, the president thinks he knows best how to run airlines, drug companies, coal companies, hospitals, banks, car companies, you name it.

But he and his appointees are unable to do the simple things that have been done in past years — hire enough TSA employees to get people through security in less time than the flight they are trying to take!

Battle In The Bluegrass State

The contentious contest between former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders continued yesterday as Democrat voters cast ballots in Kentucky and Oregon.

As expected, left-coast voters in Oregon handed Sanders a clear win — 55%-to-45%. In fact, Clinton didn’t really contest the state.

The real battle took place in Kentucky, where the Sanders campaign hoped it could replicate his upset win in neighboring West Virginia. But the Clinton campaign drew a line in the sand and vowed to fight for the Bluegrass State.

It poured resources into Kentucky, outspending Sanders on ads, and Hillary made nearly a dozen campaign appearances in the past two weeks. In the end, it paid off — sort of.

Clinton declared victory last night (46.8% to 46.3%), even though she currently clings to a lead of fewer than 2,000 votes. But her win is significantly less impressive compared to 2008.

Eight years ago, Clinton beat Barack Obama by 36 points, winning more than 459,000 votes. Last night, she barely eked out a win with just over 212,000 votes. In other words, she lost more votes than she won.

Trump’s Judges

This afternoon, Donald Trump released a list of 11 individuals he would consider as replacements for Justice Antonin Scalia. Trump praised Scalia as “a remarkable person and a brilliant Supreme Court Justice,” and suggested he would appoint judges who share his constitutional principles.

We will look into their backgrounds more thoroughly in the days ahead, but a quick review of the individuals Trump put forward today indicates that they would likely be solid conservatives.
